Today is our 19th Wedding Anniversary, so we decided to have steak, baked potato, salad and broccoli. For dessert we have some leftover caramel cake from last week that I put in the freezer.

Lady C - Your dinner sounds very British and good too!!

We are having a quiet day. Just a nice holiday! It was so good to sleep in a bit today.

Good afternoon!

Carol - Congrats on your anniversary! Enjoy your meal.

Lady Carol - yes, we are around - it is a holiday here in the states - the last one of summer.

We are having my tortilla soup tonight. It is DH's favorite - I coukd serve it to him every night and he would not complain.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from warm, wonderful Reno, and no humidity....Another purrrfect day in Paradise....

Lady Carol,so nice to see you set the table and get the kettle going. Would you believe, about 15 minutes ago, I was telling Kathy about your posts and some of your dinners, especially your doughnuts....

Yesterday was a great day. We drove, but my legs feel like we walked, the whole 75 miles around Lake Tahoe, stopping at almost every "picture taking" spot...We were dragging when got back to the house but what a day. Today there is a trip to an outlet being planned...Jim is starting to ask when are we going home...He really doesn't like to be away too long any more.

Dinner has also been mentioned as we were sitting devouring waffles with a warm cinnamon apple topping.....But, from what I heard, we're having chicken with veggies on skewers made on the grill...And for afters, Kathy found a bakery and just maybe I'll find some of those special doughnuts...I have a feeling, I'm going to be carrying a "Wide Load" sign on my way home.....
You all have a good day....

Happy eating

Hello there!

It got busy really fast this morning! I started out making pie crust for a chocolate pie for my SIL's birthay. Then I made some oven baked french toast and cooked an entire pound of bacon in the oven on crumpled aluminum foil. Sure is an 'effort-saver' as well as keeping the bacon out of most of the grease. I also made sausages, English muffins, watermelon and grapes. And for my DD, soy bacon or, as my son calls it, "fake-on". My Dd brought fixings for Irish coffee and mimosas, so we called it a party!

Everyone was gone by 1pm so I cleaned up the kitchen and zipped down to the LQS for their big sale. 75% off on "selected" books. Sadly, there were no books anyone would reasonably want - even at 75% off. But there were two QIAD 6-1/5" sqaure up rulers left - $3 each! So I took them both!

CAROL - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! I like the way you celebrated - a quiet evening together.

LADY CAROL - so happy you were able to step up to the cooker and get us rockin' this morning!

IRISH - that being chauffeured around all day is really tiring! lol! So when ARE you going home?

JANA - I have a black bean soup similiar to your tortilla soup and it's always a hit here, too.

I don't think there will be a dinner tonite here. We are all too full from a hefty brunch. But there is leftover champagne . . . just sayin' . . . . gotta clean up those leftovers!
