SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Sept 6th
Good Morning!
I am sitting here listening to it rain softly outside. A pretty sound and a refreshing smell in the air.
JANA - what an adventure your parents had to begin their marriage! Glad my trip to Reno wasn't so exciting! Glad your niece's party wasn't disrupted by family drama.
BECCA - I remember those days of sitting next to your boyfriend (or hubby). We got stopped for that, too, once. But no ticket. These days, with bucket seats, they've stopped that stream of income for the small towns!
IRISH - I'm glad you got my "little" bit of humor about the Circus Circus hotel! lol! Your Kathy sounds like she has found her heaven! Maybe you should consider moving to be closer to her? (and me??) Reno is about 12 hours of hard driving from here though we prefer to make the trip in 2 or 3 days.
LADY CAROL - unexpected guests?! And you with no meal planned?? Tsk tsk!
CAROL7 - that sauce you make for your packets sounds yummy! I'm writing that one down! You haven't steered me wrong yet!
Our rain has really picked up the pace here. Don't think it will be grilling weather tonite. So I"m thinking pork chops in the oven. We have some macaroni salad left over and a big green salad would make a good menu. Maybe CAROL7's sauce would be good on chops, too . . .
Hoping your Sunday supper is scrumptious - even if it's PB&J's!

Hello Mary & others,
Nice day here with some cooling.
Mary z I had a thought on your piano.Would you consider donating it to maybe a church or organization? Maybe that would be an option any no family member wants it. I cannot tell you how great it felt to be giving my DGD all the things & knowing she would treasure them.I have give a lot to my other DGD too.One Christmas we choose something special for each Grandchild from things we had. They all said it was the best gifts they ever got.
Carol your menus sound great.
Lady Carol With all your cooking skills I am sure you handled it well.
Yesterday when DGD come she bought a container of 4 different cakes from bakery.A wedge of each,German chocolate, coconut, red velvet,& butter cream frosting on Walnut cake.Wow it was a killer so we have tons of afters.DH is eating himself sick.lol
For today a big salad for me with shredded ham on top.DH wants his Bacon fix.And he adds chips on side.....happy eating to all. Becca

Good morning, I think it's still morning, from another gorgeous, sunny Reno, with lots of blue skies...
Mary, Kathy has surely found her Heaven. Her husband adores the ground she walks on, quite a change for her. Just being around the 2 of them, you can feel the love....
Mary,I would love to move out this way, wouldn't take much arm twisting but different story for Jim.
Yesterday was canning day, salsa, beets and pickled peppers. Lots of chopping and dicing, but oh so good. Today is going to be a "touristy" day. We are headed to Lake Tahoe, stopping at a place called The Log Cabin for brunch. And from there, who knows but it will be a full day....And that means I have no idea what dinner will be.....
Happy eating......

Hi Everyone,
Mary - I sent you the complete recipe, except forgot to say I use apricot jam instead of pineapple preserves. I have plenty of homemade apricot and no pineapple. I have seen it at the store though.
Becca - After just dividing the things my Mom had I can tell you giving things to your DGD now is a good thing. There was a wedding dress from one of my great aunts in my Mom's cedar chest it could have been one of three and I am not quite sure which one. Wish Mom were here to tell me.
Irishgram - Enjoy the tour of the area and give us the details later on the food!
Tonight's dinner will be a repeat of last nights feast! Pineapple-Chicken Foil Packets! Yeah!!
Carol

Good Evening All....sun has been shining today and its quite a bit warmer.....its seems all topsy-turvy....frosty some mornings.....then sun comes back.....then piddling rain.....had a lot of that lately....the rain I mean.....
today I have been rather busy......the sort of day I so try to avoid.......bed changing.....washing.....a bit of hovering....must look into replacing my vacuum....its way past its prime......
maybe I have already said.....cant remember.....I also brought a Tablet in the new year out of my "me money"still cant use it properly......but its very useful to watch quilting videos in bed when I cant get off to sleep......that could be the reason my monthly Broadband allowance is getting used up quickly....must find out...
our friends who arrived yesterday are caravanning about 10 miles away and thought it would be a good idea to be "just passing"....it was lovely to see them.....and to catch up on all the gossip.....we all like a good bit of gossip that's doing the rounds...
and as we had been out for breakfast.....and they didn't want a meal.....so.....it was Coffee and Cakes all round......whew....
so todays menu.....Roast Chicken....Sage and Onion Stuffing....Roast Potatoes.....Runner Beans....Carrots....(forgot the Honeyed Parsnips still in the freezer).....Blackcurrant Cheesecake for afters......

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Sept 6th
Good afternoon! It’s HOT here! I’d love some of that rain—I’ve been out watering everything and picking tomatoes and raspberries. The humidity is almost at the saturation point, because I’m sure saturated! I’ve also been hanging out the laundry.
Tonight is the township fire department street dance and hog feed. We’ll be going up to eat, but if it doesn’t cool down we may not stay too long. The heat used to not bother me, but this year… different story altogether!
The quilt show yesterday was quite good. It is the Little Balkans Quilt Guild’s show they do annually in conjunction with the Little Balkans Fest at Pittsburg. The area was settled by immigrants from the Balkan countries to work in the coal mines (mainly strip pits). The original Chicken Annie’s and Chicken Mary’s were started to feed the miners. Of course, I brought chicken back for dinner last night. I took some by to Mom on my way home and showed her the pictures of some of the quilts that I’d taken with my phone. She enjoyed getting to go to the quilt show. I always take her a program, too.
Enjoy!
