SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Sept 5th
Happy Labor Day weekend! Before you know it, it will be Halloween - and then Thanksgiving - and then you know what comes after that . . . . I really think they have speeded time up. Those tricky scientists!
Our Alec got so much done for us and went home still smiling - especially after the check DH handed him! I think today we are going to rest up - and do some Tacoma errands. Tomorrow we'll get ready for all our local kids who are coming for a family brunch on Monday. Tuesday will be getting ready for our company who, at last, are coming on Wednesday. Then it will be all fun and games for a few weeks!
IRISH - If you see a little hotel there in Reno called Circus Circus I eloped there once and was married at the Heart of Reno Wedding Chapel. That was 1987. I know you'll enjoy the lake. We love Lake Tahoe and should go back one of these days. The CA side is the prettiest (no offense to NV intended).
LADY CAROL - I haven't got any kind of cutting device except for my rulers and rotary cutters. Sorry. No advice here. (an unusual state for me!)
BECCA - I was thinking 'who doesn't like cherries?!' but then I remembered that I don't really like bananas, so I guess There's something for everybody - to like and to not like.
SHERRY - I think we ALL wished we lived closer to CHICKIE! We'd probably never be content with store-bought melons again!
CHICKIE - we need more details on this quilt show you are going to. Where is it? Big? Little? Medium? Actually, I prefer the smaller local ones so you can really spend time on the quilts and also visit all the vendors, if there are any. That being said, Houston is fantastic! But lacks the charm of the little shows. And the space to move around!
Yesterday at the store, I saw "Hatch Peppers"! A first in our store, but then they remodeled and changed a lot while we were gone. I snapped a quick picture and asked Tina if these were The Ones. (what did we ever do without our smartie pants phones??) She quickly replied YES! So I bought four and when I got home, Tina texted me through how to prepare them and then gave me her recipe for chile rellenos. I did it! I made them from scratch! Then I baked the finished rellenos with a bit of enchilada sauce topped with cheese, because we had to use up the sauce. A friend left half a container in my fridge. They weren't as good as Tina's, but they were tolerable. I should go back and buy all they have - which wasn't much - and freeze them like T does.
Tonite, I think we'll have those burgers and a BIG salad. Maybe I'll make a macaroni salad, using whole wheat pasta. DH would like that. It's always a plus when your DH likes what you make for supper!
And what's going on your plate tonite?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Sept 5th
Good morning!
Today all the extended family is getting together. My niece, Sandee is hosting the party - all I have to do is show up! That is the good part - bad part is my not so nice brother might be there - so we will see how long I stick around. He has a habit of making scenes, so since this is special for my niece and her husband, I won't give him the chance.
Dinner - humm - I need to pick up a few groceries - so something might jump in the basket. If not, I always have chicken.
I love chile rellanos! The ones I have done are dipped in a foamy egg batter and fried - that is after they are stuffed with cheese. Will look today for some hatch chiles.
Irish - enjoy Tahoe! Love that area - it was not too far from where I lived. We took many vacations up in the forest there. Even "tubed" the Truckee river. I like the North shore better than the South shore. Reno is nice, but the mountains are better.
Mary - we would hit the buffet at the Circus Circus with the kids! My mom and Dad went to Reno to get married too. In 1936! Cars weren't reliable and they had to hock my mom's wedding ring to get the car they borrowed from my dad's brother fixed. Slept in the car because they ran out of money too. Stopped off at my Great Aunt's home to get ferry money. What a story! We all laugh at that beginning to our family.
Enjoy!

Good afternoon,Another sunny day here.DD said they had a bad storm last nit with lots of hail.Sent pictures of her riddled plants.
Jana What a wedding story. On our honeymoon we got stopped in a line of traffic.Officer told DH he was driving with one hand. That was the days of those little towns making extra money to pad their pockets. That meant we had one lest nite to stay because of low funds after the ticket.
Mary z Everything must be shining at your place with all the help. That would be super.
It will be turkey sausage grilled.Asparagus grilled ,& beets.Ice cream for later....Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Sept 5th
Good morning from sunny, slightly cooler but getting warmer, wonderful Reno. I still can't get over the blue skies....
This trip has been purrrfect. Kathy is off for the next 3 days so it's hard to say what all she has planned. But today, we are "pickling" stuff from the garden. Tim has picked beets, lots and lots of hot little pepper, and tomatoes for salsa. Who would have thought Kathy would be into this but she sure is loving it. Later she and I are going to hit a few shops.
Mary, Kathy laughed at you saying, "little" Circus Circus. We haven't made it there yet this year but will. And they also like the Ca.Tahoe side, but like living in Nevada because of the taxes......And for sure I will be getting or trying chili rellenos....Right now, she has breakfast going.
Jana, loved the story about your parents...No tubing in the Truckee, water is so low.
It's taken me half the morning just to type this so better think about getting dressed....
Dinner will be something special, I'm sure......Kathy is a fantastic cook.....
Happy eating.....

Hi Everyone!
Jana - The story of your parents wedding adventure is a good one. Best to stay away from those who can't seem to find something nice to say.
Irish - I can see happy with every line you write.
Maryz - Glad you had so much help cleaning!
Chickie - You have me eating watermelon!
Becca - Another great story about weddings. Sorry yours didn't turn out so well.
ladyevans - See you soon.
Tonight will be chicken packets with onion, green and red pepper with a sauce made from apricot jam, soy sauce, a little mustard and a dash of red pepper flakes. Also on the menu is homemade potato salad and I will have watermelon for dessert!!
Carol

Good happened today - my brother didn't show up. On one hand I was glad, but the other hand, felt sorry for him in missing this special event.
