SUPPER CLUB - Wed., Sept 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 02, 2015 3:39 am

Good Morning! And welcome to another fall day! Mid-60's and 'showery' off and on here. Usually Sept is a bonus summer month for us. Weather has been screwy all over the country the past few years.

IRISH - packing! lol! I'd always done all the packing for everyone for every trip. Then I married Bill and suddenly, after 4 yrs, he hit the roof as we were preparing to go on a motorhome trip, saying I wasn't his mother and he could certainly pack for himself! OK . . . step away from the mad man and his suitcase, I thought. So that first trip where he packed for himself, he forgot to put in any pants. The next trip it was his coat. Another trip - no shoes. and so it went for years. If I had been that "smart", I'd have gotten a whole new wardrobe out of the deal! I might add that he gets pretty bent if I even ASK if he remembered a swimsuit or winter jacket. Then I see him quietly slip the item in question into the suitcase. Men are such - well - such MEN!!

CHICKIE - sounds like your party was a huge success all the way around! so happy that Doyal's brother made it! Yes, I hear you on Tina - We had Mexican for 3 nights and I'm ready for more now!

TINA - I'll write down that website. I'd get my own whenever we go through Hatch, but seems it's always 7:30 am when we roll through on our way home TX and then only if we're going up to CO to visit my sisters. Nothing is open! Glad you got to go home and sew the day away!

JANA - I've seen Cindy's roosters and they are a big beautiful deal! I hope we an see pix of yours, too!

LADY CAROL - we don't want you to miss your program on the telly! You must be wanting to watch the Seattle Seahawks . . . ;o)

CAROL7 - I enjoy Laura Childs' books, too. She also writes two other series scrapbooking series with scrapping hints, and a restaurant series, as well. Diane Mott Davidson and Joanne Fluke also have many recipes in their books. I've made some of them.

My baked chicken morphed into chicken tetrazzini last night. when I went to the freezer, I found cooked shredded chicken in there and decided I should use that up first. It was tasty and there's enough for tonite - even if Bill gets into it for lunch! I also have leftover roasted veggies - broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, onions - so dinner is going to be a reheat! plus, I think, a salad.

What's the story in your kitchen for tonite?

Last night I didn't feel very good so Frankie heated a can of soup so that was my supper along with a Sprite, he added grilled cheese for him.
I feel better today. So fingers crossed I stay that way :-) I'm thinking cube steaks, green beans and salad.

Good morning! I made the jalapeno chicken last evening. It was good, but too sweet and not hot enough. If you like a sweet and sticky chicken... YUM! (No breading on it.) I need to re-work the recipe to had some heat and remove the sweet. I served it over a rice/quinoa mixture. Tomatoes and watermelon were the sides.

Tonight... I think it will be ham... maybe sandwiches. It's too early yet to think about that... Of course, my mind is on Mexican, but not tonight. I have ham and sandwich makings. Also have some corn to warm up, and watermelon and tomatoes... Guess I have a plan...

Good afternoon!

Where did my morning go? I have been in the Batt Cave sewing on last years Halloween Swap blocks - making 2 tops - so I have one last set of strips to add to the sides of the alternate blocks and 2 tops are born. Hopefully today I will get them assembled. That hope is based on the tablet Ethan plays with hold on long enough with battery power! LOL

Dinner - I guess I will have to cook - I think DH wants banned food - he was getting stuff out of the freezer for me the other day and noticed I had some in there. I bake his with salsa and then add more after it is cooked - will add a rice pilaf and salad as well.

Becca - so good to see you back!

Mary - I still pack for DH - but I place all the clothes that I think he needs to take on the bed next to the suitcase - then he looks through it all and adds or subtracts shirts that I have in there. He has a couple of ratty old shirts that he loves to drive in - so I try to leave them out - usually I don't succeed. LOL I gave each one of kids when they were little, there own small suitcase and they packed their own clothes, that is after I checked to make sure they had what was needed. Once when we took Stu with us to San Diego - he was about 8, I had his clothes already to go into the car in the morning - for some reason he and Aaron got into his suitcase and moved it from the staging area. When we got to San Diego - it was near bedtime, so I asked Stu for his jammies - they couldn't find his suitcase - yep - we left it home! So off to the only store open late at night - Walmart and bought Stu a whole wardrobe for the week.

Enjoy!

Good Evening All......just because its Wednesday.....it doesn't mean the weather has changed......Rain.......

many apologies for charging off yesterday......I don't watch a busting lot of telly.....but Ancient History I do want to watch.....last night it was a programme trying to trace the truth behind Moses and the Parting of the Sea.....after three thousand years it was going to be superstition and theories but interesting anyway.....so sorry Maryz not the Seahawkes(were not involved)
Yesterday was my Abergavenny Day.....as my friends are on holiday.....I went on the bus.....although the bus was almost full....only 3 of my old muckers were on it....there were a crowd of walkers.....we are a "walking area".....they go to a certain point and walk about 14 miles back......stopping.....of course.....at a local Hostelry for liquid refreshments........
I got my Jammie Doughnuts......and forgot to have them last night....so will have to have extra tonight to make up for my sad lapse.......

todays menu.....Burgers....Wedges....Grilled tomatoes.....(oh....Yes) Jammie Doughnuts for afters.....and an extra one with coffee later on

Lady Carol......

sorry Ladies(and Fellas(?) )have been so busy chatting about my days this week.....I haven't really spoken to you....have slapped my wrist and will make amends tomorrow......
