SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 1st!
Well, there's little sign of summer left here! Though this weekend is supposed to be about 75*. Nice for the holiday weekend campers and yard-workers.
IRISH - don't lay awake worrying about my tree! No sense in both of us losing sleep over it! lol! Don't cook anything that leaves you leftovers when your trip is so close. Better play it safe and eat out . . . ;o)
JANA - just last night I cut a cartoon out of the funnies about how a man can never see anything in the fridge. And I will put it on the front of the fridge and Bill will never see that either! lol!! It definitely IS a man thing! And yes, my DB & SIL's new motorhome replaces the one that broke down in Alaska - and many other places! My SIL is Terry, the one who made the Dr. Who Quilt about 6 months ago. She is a member of this forum but never reads or posts.
TINA - oooh, what do you fill your enchiladas with? I"d like them, too! Set my place next to the serving platter, please! Here, there are few peppers or chilis in the produce departments except during Cinco de Mayo. and I don't know one from the other as far as heat goes. I just keep buying those expensive little cans in the Mexican food aisle, I guess.
CHICKIE - sound like you had yourself a PARTY! Was Doyal surprised? I forgot where his brother lives. Was he able to pull off that surprise? and warm blackberry pie! YUM! I'd be tired of cooking, too!
LADY CAROL - you are so right!! Time is galloping at warp speed here, too! On the news we saw last week that one store has already started it's Christmas Lay-away plan! Like CHICKIE, I love scrappy quilts. I'm cutting my tiniest scraps into 1-1/2" squares and using them as "jump scraps". I make strips of 12 and then sew the strips together. In 3 months, I got enough sewn together for half a quilt!
Well, I guess I woke up chatty this morning! Sorry 'bout that! We finally got to eat our soup last night. It actually was very good - all from frozen leftovers with 2 cups of broth added. Chicken/veggie/rice. Now for tonite - I'm going to brown some chicken breasts and then bake them in a creamy sauce. New red potatoes and salad for go-withs. At least that's my plan. Seems every meal I plan lately has been un-planned by one thing or another.
Hope your supper comes off as planned - unless something better comes along!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 1st!
Good morning from a very sunny, getting warmer, purrrrfect, SW. Pa...The grass is still looking brown but that's the way Jim likes it, especially this time of year, lol.....
Not much happening in this neck of the woods....I'm trying to get things done, a few throw rugs in the washer and then have a bunch of errands to run....
Jana, no we don't have a direct to Reno, we go by way of Denver on the way out and then Las Vegas on the way back....The funny thing, on the way back we get into Pit very late at night and with our Parkway under construction and me driving, it's hard to tell where we might end up...It's always an adventure, lol......
Have my stuff pretty much packed but there's always Jims..Years ago, almost every weekend, we headed for Cook Forest and after awhile, I got a little tired of packing for myself, 5 kids and Jim so I told him he was on his own...Well, someone didn't listen and when we got there, guess who had an empty suitcase...After that, he did his own but I might take pity on him now....
Just got us checked in and I think I'm taking Mary's advise and eat out....Our neighbor, Donna, will be cat/house sitting so all will be OK....Now if I can just convince Kathy or Tim to pick us up at the other end, we'll be in good shape.....
Like I said, kitchen is clean and closed and Mary said, we need to eat out.....Sure works for me.......
Keep my seat at the table, I'll be back in a week or so......
Happy eating..................

Mary—yes… BIG surprise! I told him on his birthday that his Ft. Collins (CO) brother was going to be here, and we went to Ft. Scott and saw them on Thursday and had dinner with both brothers and SILs. That way he got some extra visiting rather than all with the crowd. He had a good birthday week. He couldn’t believe his brother came just for his birtheday.
Irish—how exciting!!! Love the man packing story… I’ve had chapters of that before as well.
Oh! Tina is making me crave, crave, crave all things Mexican… mummmmm!!!
Tonight… something easy. Still tired of cooking! We had brats last night. Might do the re-runs or try an Asian ialapeno chicken recipe I found.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 1st!
Good afternoon!
Dinner - bother! I am not in the mood to cook - working a project is so much more fun! I have one rooster ready to stitch down and I am auditioning the fabrics for the other one right now. I can't sew him down, as I need Sarah here to help me decide and remember what size to cut the background for framing.
The gray clouds disappeared and I now have lovely white puffy ones over the mountains - looks pretty from the sewing room window.
Enjoy!

Mary
I put cheddar and asadaro cheese in them
Oh, if you google Hatch Green Chili there's places there that will send it to you, roasted, peeled and flash frozen from what I understand, you might want to check it out
Chickie, read about hehe
I don't know what I'm making for supper tonight.....I've been sewing all day! Well after sitting in jury selection for 2 hours and they vacated it. But it's all good for me

Have any of you read Laura Childs book series on tea shop mysteries? She has recipes in the back of the book. I found three books in the series at a library sale and just read another. I have a great recipe for scones and made those this morning for my sewing group. Then I made Devonshire Cream from the Laura Childs book. Everyone just raved about it. I also made a caramel cake for after lunch which was also wonderful. The cake recipe is from an old Betty Crocker Cookbook.
Tonight's dinner will be leftover spaghetti and meatballs. Think I will make a salad and garlic toast. We have some cake for afters.
