SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Aug 30th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Aug 30, 2015 3:47 am

Boy, have we got weather! Yesterday was pouring rain, high winds, and then more hard rain all night long. The neighbor's tree came down, smashing our fence, and into the flowerbeds where I'd planned to be working, except the weather kept me inside. I think I'll stay inside today working on my cat blocks.

JANA - your fried chicken sounds yummy, but Michael's soup idea sounds like a good deal here, given our stormy weather.

LADY CAROL - I couldn't agree more! When the mess is in progress, I can find anything, but when I straighten things up, it all goes into hiding! Then, when I leave for two months and come back, it's like I'm in a stranger's room!

IRISH - so how did your football game turn out? Ours was a nail-biter, but the 'Hawks took it by 1 point in the last 30 seconds of the game. Whew! The Mariners won, too! A good day for our local sports teams.

I do think soup will be the order of the day here. Soup and salad. I've been putting dibs and dabs of veggies, broth, and cooked chicken into Ziplocks in the freezer so I think it's time to get them all out and pop them into the crockpot. I'll add the last half-cup of barley from the pantry, too. We'll see what we get! Dh says 'toss in the last of that Mexican rice, too!'. Should be 'flavorful', if nothing else! lol!

What's putting the 'flavor' into your supper tonite?

Good afternoon from warm, summerlike, SW. Pa...We do have a touch of Fall in the air but temps are summery....I do like Fall, if it's not chilly but hate what follows......

Mary, Wow, I think you'd better give up the yard work and stay safe inside with the kitties....I've been reading about the storms in your area....Someone out there must have really gotten Mother Nature riled up....Glad to hear you had a good "sports" day....Our Pirates won which is great but the Steelers lost bad...But, I'm having a hard time with the Steelers this year...I'm very upset that Vick has joined the team and although, they say, he'll be good for the team, I still picture him as promoting dog fights and I honestly don't even want to watch him play....
Maybe I'll join the Sea Hawks fan club...I always like them when Tony Dungy was their coach so why not now....

I love soup anytime but when I make it, there's always something missing...Where we go for breakfast has the best veggie soup and often I'll order a cup of soup instead of dull breakfast stuff.....

And speaking of, we did go to early Mass and then on to breakfast with our friends....Hadn't been together for a few weeks so had a lot of catching up to do....

And, now, Pirate game is on, Jim and I were both watching it with our eyes closed and now, they're behind...Hate when that happens....

As for our dinner, this will be a mish mash of anything and everything left in the frig that hasn't turned green....Gotta get it cleaned out before we go away.......

Happy eating..................

Good Evening All......its yet another rainy day......

would like to say it has been a day of rest......but have had to catch on the washing and ironing.....oh pooh....only a couple of shirts left.....would have liked to have handed the iron over to Sir.....but he would only have asked which way round does the iron go......I know.....I know.....been there before.......
and the sewing room is still no tidier......

however I did make time for the Sunday Roast.......

Roast Pork with Crackling....Sage onion and Apple Stuffing Balls....Roast Potatoes....Carrots and Runner Beans.......Rice Pudding for afters

Lady Carol......

Well we just put up 35 pounds of green chili :-) and as tradition dictates, it's chili rellenos for supper :-) it's a nap time for me about the moment

Good evening,

Late again - well I had a hit on my hands - they ate everything - I have no leftovers. Brownie cookies and popciscles for afters.

Now to clean up my mess,
Enjoy,
Jana
