HGTV new home search..
I like to watch the HGTV show where they
choose out of 3 homes which will buy..
Such gorgoeus homes, and the renovations
they make, love to see myself in them.
Makes my house look bad..

Re: HGTV new home search..
Leah, There is a big difference between a "house" and a "home". You have a home where you and Pitou are happy and content and that is important to your sense of well-being and health too. Never compare what you have to what others have. Material things don't make you happy or rich, what you make of your life does. You are rich, my friend. And you lead such an interesting and enjoyable life.
I do enjoy some of those shows from Alaska, Hawaii or foreign countries to see how their homes are decorated differently from ours.
I lived in a motorhome or rv for over 8 yrs, had little space and never was happier. Of course we could choose or change our landscape from time to time, and our neighbors too. LOL
My DD3 worked for some housing developments for yrs, very expensive housing areas with homes close to or over a million. And if they went back later to repair or replace something that wasn't right after the family moved in, many of those showcase homes had little furniture in them. Once they bought the house, for show of course, they did not have enough money to buy furniture. Sad but true. Happens more than you realize.
Just be thankful for what you have, Leah. Some of the wealthiest folks in the world are also the saddest and lonliest folks around and always have to worry if others are friends for themselves or for their wealth. I'll take the friends any day of the week. And you are a special friend here on QIAD. So glad you joined us and blessed us with you friendship and life journal.
Hugs, Shirley Mae

I lived in a 1000 sq foot home with 3 kids and a husband for over 20 years. It makes me sick for these young people that have one child and a 3000 sq foot home that they say is not big enough.

Re: HGTV new home search..
I lived in a 1500 square foot house with my parents...a sister and 3 brothers for over 9 years...we had 1 full bathroom and a half bath with a toilet and sink....my younger brothers shared a room and my sister and I did and my older brother had his own room...I never remember feeling like it was too small...there was a time later on when we would come home to visit that we would have cookie day when all the grandkids would come to grandma's to make cookies...there was a time we had five of them under the age of 7 sleeping crosswise on their grandma and grandpa's bed during nap time...
As best as I can remember cookie day was all of ours favorite day right before Christmas...then Easter and egg hunts...
Leah...I am sure you have a wonderful home!...you and your adventurous cat..
Later on mamma and papa moved into town closer to the doctors and their church...and had a lot bigger house..but it was they that made it a home...by then most the grandkids were grown...cookie day was replaced with weddings and graduations of the grandkids.
I'm sorry...I'm blabbing...to shorten this...your home is what YOU make it...
For someone who has moved 5 times in 7 years trust me on this..
It does not matter the size...or the location...it's where you put your heart and your love...and of course...your quilts...
Another thing...my house now is only a bit over 1300 square feet...and I am blessed with almost an acre lot and trees...everything I have..except a mortgage on the house and 1 vehicle is paid for...no other debt...we use cash only except for one credit card for emergencies that may be needed for our kids or grandkids...
On the other hand I Know someone I am very close to (they make 3 times more than my DH and me!) with a larger place a Cadillac another car ,I don't know what it is , all kinds of the best of the best but owns NOTHING...they have second mortgaged their house as much as they can..have maxed out all credit cards and pays for one with the other and have 0 retirement...
So, I think you are rich, Leah
...because it sounds like to me you do your best to be financially responsible...so when you go to sleep at night, except for your cat crawling all over you...you should have sweet dreams...
Ok...that's all...probably enough said...
((((Hugs))))) Sonya
Edited to correct some typos...I'm sure there are probably more...UGH!

Re: HGTV new home search..
I totally agree I downsized my home when we moved. I would live in one of those tiny homes if it were not for DD and my LA LOL Dh said I would have to have a tiny home just for the LA
)
Izzy
Leah have you watched the tiny home show LOVE to watch that one too. DH says I am addicted to those shows at night. I hand stitch and watch them all the time:)

Read all your messages, think every home needs a sewing machine for mending/sewing clothes, then quilting is luxury..
Thanks for sharing. Made me feel better.
