Supper club, July, 25th, Sat........

Post by Irishgram » Sat Jul 25, 2015 6:51 am

Good afternoon from a gorgeous, sunny, warm, SW. Pa...Our "good weather" wishes have been granted....Absolutely purrrrfect!

WELL, I see there hasn't been much eating going on...What's been happening?????If it's too warm for coffee or tea, get that glass of iced tea and pull up a chair.....

Honesty, yesterday, I really did forget to check in but of course we didn't forget to eat....The burgers finally found the grill, along with mushrooms and all kinds of summer goodies....That was after a full day of running...I did manage to find a new quilt shop and get their R by R, pattern along with a few goodies....

I was just talking to my sister and she wants to take a day trip and it just happens to be near one of the quilt shops on my list.....She also said, we need to take this trip soon because she needs to schedule surgery on her shoulder...She's going to be known as the bionic woman....
And on this day way back in 1950, I fell off that load of hay and broke my femur, ended up in the hospital and met Jim(who was in the next room)....It was a "lucky" break for me!

As far as dinner, it's going to be picnic style around here...I picked up a couple different cheeses and lunch meats and along with some potato salad, gonna call it dinner.........(And for sure, will pull out the paper plates)...

Almost forgot a good story...Yesterday morning, I woke up at 4:00 AM and had the feeling that something was wrong...Baby Girl wasn't in bed so I went looking...I searched the whole house, basement and even in the car and no BabyGirl...About this time, I'm starting to panic and Jim is also looking...Poor Kelly was even in a dither...Then I noticed the screen in the small window above my sewing machine was pushed out...Yep, that little devil had pushed the screen out, gotten out on the back porch roof and some how made it to the ground...I'm out in my PJs looking and calling and it's still dark (good thing the neighbors didn't see me)...Finally here comes the little princess walking down though the yard just as sweet as can be...I was so glad to see her, I had to give her some treats, lol....So, now I fixed a double screen and there is no way she can push it out...I didn't have this worry when I had 5 kids at home!

So that's my story.....

Happy eating................

Good afternoon,

Irish - whew- glad little priness came home safe and sound. We have some very high off the ground windows and panic that one of the grands will fall through - common here in Utah, so we put a couple of pressure rods in the way. So far has slowed them down.

We have been eating - tonight I am making lemony garlic chicken with asparagus - a stir fry type dish over rice. We have leftovers from Costa Vida - a california - mex restuarant.

Off to watch my Giants beat the A's - again. Michael is a A's fan - refered to here as traitor! LOL I also got a new baker's rack to hold my cookbooks. It is wrought iron, black and I have a wrought iron plate rack to hang above it. Now to put all my cookbooks on it - I have a lot of them! Almost as many as I have fabric!

Enjoy,
Jana

It may be hot, but I’m still having coffee and tea, and I add ice to them both! There’s nothing purrrrrfect about the weather here unless you like 99 degrees, 85% humidity, and a heat index of 117!!! It’s hard to breathe “under water”. It’s actually a purrrrfect day to stay in and sew!!!

Irish—always take a road trip when you can!!! Sounds perfect with your sister, too! Love your story of the “lucky break”—for both of you!!! Picnics always work for me!!! Oh, so glad your “Little Princess” came home!!!

Jana—your menus always sound delicious!!! Go Giants!!! The A’s left Kansas City years ago. They were almost a farm club for the Yankees in the 50s. A lot of great players started with the A’s and got traded to the Yankees and became stars. I listened to the games on my transistor radio. I love cookbooks and read them like novels.

Becca—I would never pass up a chance to not have to cook! Of course, I’m with you on the tomato sandwich!!!

DGD and I went to town to the store, then to Mom’s. I vacuumed her rooms downstairs, and DGD moved the chairs for me. Then my sister brought lunch that her DH had made—gazpacho soup! YUM!!! So we had lunch with Mom, then we went to the farm store for cow “treats” and a sprayer for DH for his ATV so he can get rid of noxious plants.

Dinner tonight will probably be re-runs of the steak we had last night with baked sweet potatoes, tomatoes or salad, and corn. DGD made pecan bars yesterday, and we took some to Mom. There are enough left for dessert tonight. I purchased a huge cantaloupe, and when we came home I “butchered” it. It is delicious, so that may be afters for me.

Enjoy!
