SUPPER CLUB - Fourth of July!!
Good Morning!
I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend! We had our BBQ yesterday, celebrating the Fourth and Bill's birthday (which isn't until the 20th, but we'll be in Alaska then.)
Everyone brought something so there was lots of tasty food on the table. I had a lot of corn on the cob and didn't want to heat up my kitchen boiling it so I was trying to think of other ways to cook it. I put it all in the crockpot with a cup of water and cooked it for 3 hours. Purrfect! A successful experiment!
IRISH - we used to have a Long John Silver's here. They closed down due to LACK OF INTEREST! now you have to have your car detailed!
JANA - I checked before I posted to see if anyone had already started the thread, but I forgot to check AFTER I posted! Sorry! Your dinner would DEFINTELY fly here! Italian is our favorite! And you get extra points for knowing how to spell catcha... - cachitori... - what you ate!
TINA - I sure hope Frankie gets someplace with the Powers That Be. Did he keep the letter that told him he would be getting a COL increase?
CHICKIE - I take it Doyal doesn't care for tomato-y things? Poor guy doesn't know what he's missing! You've really got Tasha trained! Lucky you!
BECCA - your DGS is right! This is very unusual weather for us. And they are cooler up in Hoodsport than we are here, but it's still miserably hot. June is usually cool and rainy here. Summer begins sometime after July 5th. And we generally average only 15 days a summer at 80 or above. But we'll be almost 100* by Sunday. And few people in our area have A/C. I feel for your poor DGDIL. Maybe they could go to a movie marathon someplace. Or go swimming in the Canal.
Tonite - no cooking for sure! We have leftover watermelon, salads, burgers, and corn. We won't be hurting for food! We are going to lay low this weekend and make sure no neighbor's fireworks get to our house, and that our pets are inside, safe from fireworks, noise, heat, and coyotes!
What's on your menu for this fun holiday?

Mary, last nights supper and tonights at your house sound yummy! Yep, Frankie has both letters I highlighted for him where it says so he can reference it quick when he's there, it says he'll get his merit increase too.
For supper tonight we're having burgers on the grill and salad before we go park down the road and watch fireworks at the fairgrounds. All my animals will be inside and just for my piece of mind in their kennels. We got rain last night so everything is wet here, yay!

Good morning,
Mary - I can' t spell - my spell checker corrects me! It was really good - my polenta turned out better tan usual.
Tina - we always saved all of Michael's evaluations from work - we were in middle management and keep them just in case of any problems.
Dinner - ribs and potato salad for 2! We are laying low here and recovering from the padt many weeks of running. So far, feels nice!
Enjoy,
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fourth of July!!
Good almost afternoon from, so far, dreary, getting warmer, SW. Pa...But, we're supposed to be sunny and summerlike for the rest of the day and tomorrow is to be purrrfect......
Not much happening in this neighborhood...I think most of the neighbors have disappeared...I kind of miss the days when the kids were all at home and most of the neighbors would get together at Ted and Donna's for a picnic...And there was always someone that had fireworks and we'd have our own display...But, it will be basically quiet....
I just spent the morning getting back in my machine's good graces...It's been awhile but I did get some things accomplished...I did, however, find out, not to sew in barefeet...That darn peddle gets hot! I've finished 2 more quilts to give to one of the local churches.
Now, I need to run the vacuum and that's it...
For our dinner, gonna fire up the grill and hope the tank doesn't run dry in the middle of my cooking..(would sure hate to have to use the stove today, lol)..so, burgers and/or dogs, baked beans and a salad (gotta have my salad)....Cookies and ice cream for afters....
Happy eating.........
Just got my wish, the sun came out and it's going to be that purrrfect day......
Happy 4th!

Irish, I was watching a little mini class the other day on free motion quilting and the lady that was doing the class was having a hard time with her peddle LOL she had shoes on because she was giving the class and she asked them how many did it barefoot.....
) I do mine barefoot, I "feel" the speed better that way ;o) but mine doesn't get hot at all.

I can't sew with shoes on either - must be barefoot. When I did the Teacher Training with El, she laughed at me, because I couldn't sew until I had my shoes off!

I took a sewing class not long ago. Now I know what the problem was. I had my shoes on.
"Mac n cheese" tonight for us. I'll make rice because I like it but DH probably won't eat much of that. That just means I have something for lunch tomorrow. He can eat veggies. Last night it was dogs and baked beans. What I'm craving is chicken in the crock pot. I don't know why. I never use a crock pot. Maybe I'll dig it out and use it Monday. Tomorrow is a birthday cookout for a great grandson. That won't be pleasant and DH is trying to get out of going.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fourth of July!!
Mary--Doyal doesn't like tomatoey things or vinegary things... both of which are my favorites! I never have to worry about him and my sauerkraut on my brats! Or my tomatoes!!! I do Alfredo for him and Marinara for me. I can see why a LJS might go out of business in your area with all the fresh "swimmers" to pick from!
We went to a picnic at DBIL's today at Chanute, and this evening we are on our way to a picnic at DS2's--all the family and friends will be there. We are stopping to get Ava since her "mommy and daddy" went early to go swimming. She will enjoy getting to see her pals, the big dogs.
Tina--I sew barefoot quite a bit. I've had pedals get hot, but this one doesn't seem to. Maybe I don't sew enough...
Time for more picnic fare...
