SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, June 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jun 07, 2015 3:24 am

Good morning!

We have a beautiful morning here and I'm sitting out on our deck in the swing next to the tinkling fountain, with a furry black sheltie snuggled up to my side. This means that in order not to disturb said sheltie, my coffee has to be fetched for me by "staff". Funny - he's happy to do it for the dog's sake!

BECCA - sorry about the heel. Have you found anything that will ease it at all? My dad swore by Aspercreme, but then he swore by (and at!) a lot of things! lol! I hope you can stay in your beautiful haven for many more years!

IRISH - my 16 yo old fluffy calico, Riley, gently paws at my hand (if I'm sewing or reading) or at my face (if I'm sleeping) to get me to pet her or get up and feed her. If I stop petting, she starts pawing again. She doesn't bite, but I've had cats that were very affectionate, loved being petted and then suddenly turned, bit, snarled, and ran. That's another of those instances when Bill asks me, "Tell me again why it is that we need cats?" He says that a lot.

CHICKIE - your poor DIL! And your poor YOU! Glad all turned out OK, but what was her original problem that she had to go on the steroid? Did she injure her back? What a day you two had! but what a welcome you got when you arrived home! It's a good thing we have dogs!

JANA - glad you made us proud at the Family Feud game! I didn't doubt you for a minute!

I don't have a plan for the day. I think it will be a lazy one. Too hot to do much. We will have breakfast with my DB and his wife, though. Supper tonite will be chicken on the grill. and since it's so easy to do, probably potatoes, too, though DH may ask for rice instead. We have salad as well, plus a platter of fresh raw veggies with homemade horseradish dip for happy hour munchies.

Hope your supper is quick and easy!

Dinner here will be a roast turkey with all, well most of the trimmings. Sarah hadeone and wants noodles later in the week.

Family stuff with Stu this afternoon - we got Aaron and Kate moved yesterday. Rain, thunder, lightning and floods, but we aee fine!

Enjoy,

Good morning! You know the addage... let sleeping dogs lie. Here I'm hearing doggy snores from the sofa and the bed. Such a life of luxury they lead!

Yes, DDIL had a back injury. She’s a nurse and was changing jobs (hospitals) from ER to ICU. She had to do a heavy lifting and twisting test to get the job. She passed the test, but at what cost??? She’s now not able to work and doesn’t have ANY job. At least she was able to get on her DH’s insurance.

Last night I had a big portabella “burger” with all the trimmings. DH had his requested hamburger. I’m not sure what will reach the table tonight.

Jana—your dinner sounds wonderful! After the dinner, I always cook the carcass with celery and a little onion and make my noodles later with my broth. Grandma did hers that way, and so did mom… nothing wasted and more delicious meals. Usually ours was a roasted chicken that Grandma had butchered.

Enjoy!

Chickie What a day & nite you had.And poor DDIL.Sorry to hear about her job loss.I had a really bad ordeal with prednisone.I am allergic to it.Sure hope she gets better soon & can find work.
Your fur babies sure know how to love.

Jana Your meal sounds great.I too use the carcass for soup or noodles.Yum.

It has been a catch what you can here.I did make DH a burger so no one will starve. Becca

Good, really late, afternoon from warm, sunny, SW. Pa....Now we're back into summer and I'm loving it!

We went to early Mass, then on to breakfast...Jim and I really do like the other couple we meet but it seems, we leave breakfast, shaking our heads....Is there some rule, that when you get old, you're supposed to complain...The other Jim's lady friend is very out spoken and complains about everything...Today, her eggs weren't done right, the bacon wasn't crisp, the potatoes weren't right, but guess what, she ate the whole thing AND then when the poor waitress brought the bill, she complained...Then the manager came over, tried to appease her (did ask her why she ate it if she didn't like it) but in the end, gave her a quart of ice cream to take home....And she kept saying, I never complain and boy I almost lost it, lol....What is it with people???? OK, enough of my "complaining".....

Our afternoon has got to be one of the laziest we've spent in a long time...We came home, read the paper (stayed awake) and then watched the Pirates/Braves game....Pirates ended up on top, 3-0 and I know it was because I was there to root them on....I'm working on a cross stitch wedding sampler and was able to get a lot done.....

Mary, isn't it great when you have "staff" to wait on you? Funny, the things we do as to not disturb the fur kids....I also have a little water thing near our patio but the darn thing always puts me to sleep or makes me want to tinkle.......

Becca, Oh my, hate to hear you have gout...One of the boys had it a few months ago and from talking to him, the pain is unbelievable...Did they tell you it comes from spicy foods?

We just finished our dinner...After the game, Jim said he was going to the porch and when I asked what he wanted to eat, he said anything as long as he could eat outside....So, light up the old grill, throw on some burgers, with onions and a foil pack of mushrooms (with lots and lots of butter) and that was dinner....Used paper plates, so no dishes to wash, not much clean up and all was good....I had made zucchini bread yesterday so that was our afters...........

Now, I'm going to get a glass of tea, get my book and head for the porch.....

Happy eating.............

Heaven forbid you disturb the dog (or cat). That's the way it is here.

Supper was leftover meatloaf and salad at DH's request which was great because I did get some sewing in this afternoon and really didn't want to cook. Are you all gonna shame me into cooking more?

Irish - I think you have breakfast with the same people we have breakfast with on Saturday mornings. Keep me posted on the Pirates. I was born and raised with them south of Pittsburgh. Around here it's the Reds <cringe> if you can get any baseball. My f-i-l was a big Reds fan so we had some fun bantering over baseball.

Hi Grammyjladr. I'm new too. Best I can figure thus far is a post started every morning and another started every afternoon. Supper club is the afternoon one.

Thanks Tina. It's pretty rare that I know what we're having for supper too much before 5 pm. :) Maybe I'll get some supper inspiration along with project inspiration.
