SUPPER CLUB - Sat, May 16th

Good Morning!

We have a cloudy day, it looks like, with a breeze and maybe some raindrops. Unfortunate since we are going to my son's and the plan is to sit around the campfire - outside.

Also, if you are interested (and who wouldn't be??) I posted pictures of my SIL's Dr. Who quilt and also of my Foxy quilt this morning.

JANA - so happy to hear about Stu's assignment! I won't mention it here as that is YOUR news to deliver.

TINA - Yes, I remember Forgetaboutit Pizza! I don't see how anyone can not like Italian food - but especially an Italian!! Can he be repaired somehow??

IRiSH - chix-ala-king is a blast from the past! I think I have a recipe for it in my old Betty Crocker Cookbook. I haven't made it in probably 25 years. I might have to give it a 'go' sometime now that you've reminded me of it. Another of my old favorites is chicken caccitiore. I wonder if Tina's Frankie would like that . . .

BECCA - it's sad that so many in all professions seem to just not care anymore. But particularly upsetting in the medical profession. It's hard to believe that the babies are getting so big now!

GEN LADY CAROL - so hope your weather clears enough to go to the quilt show. I prefer smaller shows to the big ones because they aren't so overwhelming. As long as there are vendors! I'm all about spending! lol!

CHICKIE - look at it this way - you can clean your floors and how long will it be until they need it again? Especially if it's muddy out. So will anyone notice if you skip a cleaning here and there? I say put those hours to better use shoving fabric through your machine!

JOANNE - I think Mama should give you a frequent eater discount! LOL! And you know, if any of us ever get your way, we will HAVE to go eat there, too!

I have no idea of the menu for today. It could be omelets or it could be brats on the grill. All I know of for certain is there will be birthday cake because I made it! But it will be fun to have most of my family together.

What's happening at your house today?

Hi Dinner Pals.

Today and tomorrow are my Hamburger(ground turkey, substitute) Helper days. My DH just loves the "Cheezy Hashbrowns" I have to say, they do turn out pretty dog gone GOOD!!!

Then, to help out our son, we will be buying the groceries and I will do the cooking at their house for our stay. I will start out by taking some "requests" from the grand children.

They both love mashed potatoes (home made!!!). Also they love my breaded pork chops. (I buy the thin cut and boneless) They cook up so quickly that way.

If I don't do any other postings, I should get on here every couple of days while we are there and let you know what kinda menu, they choose. LOL.

Happy eating.
Velda

Good early afternoon from a very wet, wet, Sw. Pa...We had a gorgeous morning and then the clouds opened up and wow, what a downpour....We spent the morning at the nursery, came home with a trunk full of flowers, a couple of veggie plants and a very light wallet..Jim pulled a wagon and I filled it up...My sister was there and she also helped in the filling along with what she bought...This place is fantastic and if I can sneak away another day, I'm going back...The hanging baskets were unbelievable and probably too heavy to hang, lol.....

And, we came home, had some lunch and was ready to get my hands dirty and the rain came...Oh well, I can always push the vacuum around.....

Mary, your day sounds extra special...But, then any time you spend with family is special, I'm finding that out, more and more....And even if you get some rain, they'll still be "sunshine".....Enjoy every minute.....Oh, and that chix recipe is from the old Betty Crocker cook book, under turkey ala king, I think....Another favorite from that book is the bread pudding (with lots of raisins) and speaking of, I just might have to make some....I do love that old cook book and have made sure all the girls had gotten one.....

Becca, when I hear about some of the things doctors are doing today, it just makes me cringe..I love when you talk to them and they look at you as if you don't know what you're talking about...Heck, it's your body...You and your DH have been through so much you don't need more....My sister is going through that with her DH but she's feisty and hopefully, keep on top of things....Will keep you and your DH in my special prayers.....

I probably won't make it to the table tomorrow...Jim and I are leaving bright and early to go watch Cari dance...She's competing at Mt. St. Mary's College in Maryland and Gram needs to be there...Poor Jim, does love to see her dance, but he said, "do I have to go?"...So, we'll drive for over 3 hours to watch her dance for maybe 5 minutes, lol...But, she'll be our "sunshine" for tomorrow.....

And as far as dinner today, could be burgers or hot dogs on the grill...I think I had had that on my menu a few times this week so maybe today we'll actually make them....I'm just hoping the grill still has gas in the tank, lol.....

Happy eating..................

Mary, I've tried to repair him for 30 years LOL he does eat Italian but if he has a choice he'll choose Mexican :-) he pretty much eats what I cook, even salmon patties and he hates those! He says I cook them just like his mom used to and he didn't like hers either LOL
I gotta look in the freezer and see what were having for supper.

Before I forget...Irish, which edition (year) Betty Crocker cookbook??? I've got a couple of the old ones that I use alot. They always had nice, basic recipes...old standbys.

Tonight I cooked! Ham, potatoes, onions and green beans in the crock pot...and some biscuits! Yummmmmm!

Oh, I HAD to clean the floors... they were beyond ignoring any longer.

Tonight will be steak and potatoes, broccoli or artichoke and salad.

I had lunch with Mom today and showed her my oriole and hummingbird pictures. She really enjoyed the show. I also took her the QUILT SAMPLER magazine and showed her the shop that Vel patronizes. She really enjoys the magazine and kept it to read thoroughly.

Thanks, Vel, for the heads up about "your" shop!
