SUPPER CLUB - Sat., April 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Apr 18, 2015 3:46 am

Good Lovely morning, everyone!

We had a really nice day with Bob & Betsy yesterday. They loved Poulsbo. We had a tasty lunch at a pub, sitting outside on the patio with our dogs. The waitress even brought them a bowl of water! I learned a new food - poutine. that's gravy and bits of cheese over french fries. B&B knew about it and said it was a Canadian dish. I like it!

Betsy's spaghetti was super good. It's her homemade recipe with her own home-grown tomatoes. And there are enough leftovers for us all for tomorrow!

LADY CAROL - well, to be honest, being carried off by fairies doesn't sound half-bad. I guess it depends on the fairies . . . and is it interfacing you are looking for? fusible?

JOANNE - You earned yourself a drum roll for sure! When you cook, you don't spare the horses! Sounds like a delish meal!

VELDA - dancing instead of cooking?? Now that's a concept I could get on board with! Have fun! And enjoy the reunion and your visit with your son.

CHICKIE - I bet Ava is a real cutie! Would love to see her acting big. Little dogs never seem to realize they are little, do they! lol! A bowl of ham and beans sounds pretty good to me. I put it on my "menu list" on the fridge. It's where I go when I'm out of ideas.

IRISH - every now and then a few days of 'lazy' is just what somebody ordered. Doesn't matter who, but you must obey. Sorry the blinds didn't fit. When it comes to things like that I am all thumbs. I don't even try any more. Popcorn for dinner is sort of like food. It comes from corn, right?

BECCA - It seems there's always laundry. always. They need to add that to the death and taxes list. Though, I often think of watching my mom, when I was little, doing clothes outside in a laundry tub with a washboard, and having to iron EVERYTHING, after sprinkling and rolling each item. Then I kiss my Maytags!

TINA - I know lots is going on at your house, but, Hon, ya gotta eat!

Tonite I am making homemade pizza. We also have salad and cottage cheese and ice cream sandwiches. No mushrooms on this pizza though. Betsy got a new allergy to mushrooms along with her new lungs. I've read that that is not uncommon.

Bon Appetit`!

Mary, you talking about your mom doing laundry reminded me of mine. Although we had a wringer washer and laundry tubs...clothesline outside and in the basement, too. Everything got ironed!! I learned to iron on towels, pajamas, t-shirts, and even rags! lol! And whenever I think of a wringer washer I think of the horror stories about the boobs that got caught and the long hair!

I think I'm going to roast a piece of bologna with some stove top stuffing tonight...if you like fried bologna, you would like it roasted!

It's awfully warm today....pushing 80 deg. Tomorrow is RAIN all day!

Good Evening All.....the sun did peep in from time to time.....BUT that wind......it was a real easterly wind....with ice in the air.....

Well.....I"m still here......the fairies didn't get me....well not yet anyway......I didn't even get close to the machine.....I was called away just as I put my brave face on......Sir needed some help...by which time it was too late to get back....out most of today.....and off to see the Bristol family tomorrow.....so my sanity remains intact......for now.......

Out for breakfast today.....so no cooking.....just a cheese and pickle sandwich tonight and a Belgian bun with our coffee.....

not sure if I will make the table tomorrow......depends on what time we get back home......

Last evening we had the cream of asparagus soup and the mushrooms... they were both delicious, although since I was the cook I shouldn't be boasting.

We had rain and thunder storms all night (no damage, just moderate noise), and it was raining when I left to go to town. The dogs stayed home in bed. The rain had stopped when I came out of the grocery store; now it's just overcast and steamy as the temperatures rise. We are supposed to go to a cook out this evening for our #3 son's birthday. It might be a little dampish if the rain returns... I can guarantee the food will be good--great, actually, because I don't have to make anything to take! I'll brave the rain for THAT!

Joanne--you must be getting the rain tomorrow that passed through here last night.

Poor Betsy--she wouldn't like my morels... well, she might, but it would be dangerous. That's too bad, but not a huge sacrifice for her new lungs!

I think I've heard of gravy and cheese over french fries... thought it had to be a Southern dish... maybe southern Canada! Everything is better with gravy. Everything is better with cheese. Gravy AND cheese... WOW!!!

Enjoy!
