SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Easter Eve

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Apr 04, 2015 5:07 am

Good Morning! are we all almost ready? Tomorrow is the big day!

JOANNE - sounds like with all bringing something, you will have a feast of feasts!!

IRISH - dang, but that pie went fast! Next pie, I need more notice. And if we ever show up for a meal, don't worry - we travel with four chairs, - just in case . . . .

CHICKIE - you are probably tired of cooking!!

JANA - cupcakes! You know what they say - "Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first."

TINA - what fantastic yummy are you cooking up?

My DH got a new fancy phone a couple of days ago. He's figured out the i-tunes feature and the earbuds, and now I keep hearing him singing all over the house. Startled me at first because in 25 years I have never heard my husband sing. Even crowded around a birthday cake or a church hymnal, he only mouths the words. He is too funny!

I have some creamy sauce left from last night's alfredo - and a lot of frozen broccoli, so thanks to some inspirational assistance from Chickie, I think I'll put it together and make cream of broccoli soup to sup upon tonite. And toast. I love toast with soup. and salad.

Enjoy your dinner!

Good afternoon from sunny but cool (we're just cool people), SW. pa....

Mary, the broccoli soup does sound delish! And of course, you have to have toast...You and your chairs would be most welcome, any time....That's funny about Bill singing...Jim is also not a singer although he does try it...Years ago, when he was in high school, the chorus teacher wanted everyone to be a part and even as much as Jim protested and said, he couldn't sing, he had to try out...Well, when he finished, she did say to him, "Yep, you're right, you can't sing"...

We ran those errands that I had been putting off and Jim is playing Easter Bunny today to those who won't be coming tomorrow...I need to do some baking and run the vacuum....Our meal tomorrow is breakfast/brunch stuff so it won't take too much fussing...Used to be Jim was the chief "cook and bottle washer" so we'll see if he keeps his title....

But, our dinner today....Jim might get into the ham which would be fine with me....I'd be satisfied with crackers and cream cheese and a cup of tea......But, as always, menus have a way of changing around here.....

Happy eating...............

Good afternoon,

First session of conference is over, next session starts in 2 hours, so I am here. Dinner tonight will be chef salads. Easy! Garlic bread as well. Plenty of afters - raspberry turnovers, chocloate pie or cookies - they are all here.

Enjoy,
Jana

LOL oh Mary that's priceless about Bill and his singing :-) we got a good chuckle for our day :-) Frankie sings all the time, it was really cool at first, he'd sing a song with the same lyrics as something I said to him after 10 years of that it got aggravating LOL but then he stopped for awhile and I missed it so now I just smile when he does it :-) Tell Bill to sing his heart out! :-)
Tonight might be simple burger on the grill and salad tomorrow will be a feast of ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans with bacon, deviled eggs, salad, Watergate salad, frog eye salad, stuffed celery, pecan pie, lemon pie (hopefully), bread pudding and chop suey cake :-)
