SUPPER CLUB - Tues, March 31st

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Mar 31, 2015 4:25 am

Welcome to Leftover Tuesday! How many leftovers can you eat? Let's see - pork chops, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, green beans. I got FIVE! Can you beat me??

JANA - I was worried about the 'doneness' of the Scotch Eggs, too, but they were truly hard boiled eggs. Plus they are cooked a second time after the sausage is pressed around them. And the sausage was well done, too. I'd order then again in a heartbeat.

JOANNE - whoosh!!!

BECCA - I'm laughing because of your need for a shower after going to Walmart. We've been in Walmarts across the country and there have been a few that I almost want to grab a broom and mop to give them a hand. Then there's a few where you feel dirty just by being close to some of those shoppers! lol!

IRISH - I sent you a happy thought yesterday! did you get it? I was working outside and heard some funny sounds overhead I looked up and there were a pair of eagles chasing each other overhead. I watched them for quite a while, and I swear they were giving off eagle giggles! I immediately thought of you! I named them Jim & Irish.

Yesterday I made those thick loin pork chops from Costco. I browned them and put them in a baking dish. Then saute'd diced onion and garlic and a few red pepper flakes. Added some wine, let it simmer a bit, then a can of whole berry cranberry sauce. When it was saucy, I poured it over the chops and then baked them. Good gosh yum!! I was also texting with friends and suddenly got impulsive and asked them to come over for supper. They accepted which surprised me! So I added mashed potatoes, green beans, and salad. I even had crackers and cheese handy to have with wine. I pulled a company dinner out of a hat in 30 minutes!! I was quite proud of myself! And we have some great reruns for tonite!

What's your plan for dinner tonite?

Those chops sound sooooo good, Mary!!

Tonight is Dinner with the Pringles at Mama's Grill....Spiro is making beans, ham and cornbread for us, too!

Easter....we have our family celebration on Saturday, and the egg hunt. We have a big ham from Market Day...and hopefully the kids bring the rest!. Earl usually does deviled eggs, but this year the newest grand daughter-in-law will bring them! A new generation! It is supposed to be in the mid-50's and no rain...sounds pretty good!

No leftovers, Mary! Tomorrow is garbage day, so I clean it all out (that means I throw away..lol).

Last night we had the pork tenderloin I had fixed before...it turned out to be awesome. I browned it in butter and olive oil..after liberally salting and peppering. Then slow cooked it in the crockpot with some chicken broth..

Time for lunch!

Joanne

Definitely leftovers here as well... soup or lasagna with salad and apple crisp or fruit. It's good to not have to make an effort to cook.

Good morning from a semi dreary, semi sunny, not sure what's happening (weather wise), SW. Pa....

Oh Mary, your dinner did sound good and then to do it all so quickly...You are wonder woman! Your good wish did work..I had a good day until I got back home, turned on my eagle site and then shed some tears....How can a person get so attached to these creatures???? But, all in all, my day was good, the lunch was great, company was fun and of course we ate way too much....
And, I'm proud to have eagles named for us...But, am so jealous that you actually have eagles flying around...I have yet to see one in person except at the aviary....One of these days........

Kathy sent me pictures of their trip to Monterey and I have decided, I'm moving....She should take up photography, her pictures are unbelievable...

I'm actually doing something today...Starting my painting upstairs in a sitting room....I had asked Jim to find me paint and he just said, make sure you use latex, lol......So I guess I'm on my own.....

And for dinner, I am so determined to make those stuffed shells that were on the menu last week....And once again, I'm not baking..I did break down and pick up some cinnamon rolls yesterday so that will old Jim for another day...........

Happy eating..............

Mmmmmmmmm Mary your chops sound delicious!
We had smoothed burritos and a salad, I know they're not on my meal plan but Frankie was saying we hadn't had any burritos in so long and he was out of frozen leftover ones LOL I don't know if it was because we hadn't had them in so long or what but boy oh boy were they yummy!
I think I'm going to make my little pork tenderloin things and salad tonight.
I didn't realize that this Sunday is actually Easter! I thought it was another week after! Surprise surprise! I text and called everyone last night to invite them :-) so I gotta go buy a ham, potatoes, eggs and I think that's all I lack. I think I'm gonna make a lemon pie :-) I saw a picture of one on Facebook this morning and thought that would be good for Easter too :-)

Hi Everyone,
Tonight for us will be pasta and turkey-meat-sauce and salad.. It is what we ate last night too, so I guess it is sort of left-overs! We may have a dinner roll I made today for Sunday though.

Mary - I am truly impressed that you pulled off a company dinner so quickly, I am already working on Easter Sunday's dinner! Your porkchop0s sound really tasty.

Irish- If Kathy didn't go to Point Lobos she needs another trip to Monterey. Point Lobos is positively beautiful! Last September we saw whales just off the coast. It is phenomenal!

Miriam - Enjoy your leftovers!

Joanne - Ahh! Dinner with the Pringles! It is good to be you!
