SUPPER CLUB - Fri, March 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Mar 20, 2015 3:15 am

Good Morning!

The first day of spring. I'm sure it's a very welcome day in a huge part of the country! It's also my oldest brother's 80th birthday. He's dragging us all (there are 6 of us siblings) into a new decade. He's 16 yrs older than I am. he's the only one of us still working! And he's a trucker in Alaska!

JANA - when you share photos of your new kitchen, we want to see your new dishes, too, please!

BECCA - your strawberries sound so delicious! usually, when I buy them, we just eat them like candy! I like veggie burgers, too. I get the Black Bean burgers from the frozen dept. at Costco.

JO - I just can't get interested in basketball. I think it's more fun when you see it live.

TINA - you know, there is pasta made from brown rice. It's very good and doesn't taste much different from regular pasta. and it's on your diet . . . just sayin' . . .

IRISH - poor Jim! Bingo during his BB game! You need a DVR. We DVR all our favorite shows. We sometimes even DVR the news and then we can Fast Forward thru all the commercials. And you never miss a game! And it's not expensive . . .

CAROL - is everyone healthy at your house again? I'm still coughing, but I did sleep through the night last night - in bed (not on the couch or in a chair) - and no PM meds! I keep trying the humidifier and it works on my chest congestion, but it makes my throat sore, so I keep shutting it off.

Well I posted in the Sew-in that I was putting pork chops in the crockpot, but then remembered it's Friday and Lent. So it will be quiche, I think. Or poached eggs. Tomorrow night we're going to friends for supper and on Sunday, to my DD's. So the chops will be put on hold for a while.

I hope you all can rustle up something at your house to keep your tummies from growling!

Good morning from cold, dreary, some white stuff on the ground, SW. Pa...Spring, you say?????I think Mother Nature is playing games again.....

Mary, happy to hear you almost completely recovered....Jim said, if he can't see the game live, he didn't want to see it at all, lol....Of course, that must not apply to all those video taped Notre Dame football games we have sitting in the closet...He would tape a game and keep it if they won, so you can imagine how many tapes we have taking up room..And this goes back at least 25 years..And the old man can tell you the scores and who did what in all those games but ask him when my birthday is and......

My day today will be spent running back and forth to the computer and watching the robot competition in N. Carolina...Grandson, Nicky, (my chef) is a driver and is so excited...So far, won the 1st match, lost the 2nd... Won't be getting too much done today or tomorrow....

Yesterday was a good day, even managed to get a hair cut...And of course the car did find it's way to Subway, oh so good!

Not sure if Jim will want to get take out from one of the local, "mac n cheese" fries or maybe I'll end up making stuffed shells...Dan, DGS, loves shells so that means make extra.....

Happy eating..................

Tonight will be the pork roast from last night made into BBQ sandwiches by Earl! I made some macaroni salad and he bought some cole slaw from Medary's..plus we'll have some Bush beans. And we will call that supper!

Mary, I only watch basketball during March Madness...it's the only time that they are all so exciting! And I don't like pro basketball..

Isn't it supposed to snow in New York City????? lol!

Tomorrow is supposed to be mid 60's and sunny!!!! Come on Spring!

Joanne

Edit: Just saw Becca's post! A very happy birthday to Maryz and Becca!!!

Good Evening All......a nice day today......sunny but still with that nip in the air......

Maryz....Sir is definitely better.....he can grump for England.....I am well on the way....but this blooming cough is getting to be a pain in the botty......should get my results next week......hopefully she says......

Started another baby quilt today.....I appear to be surrounded by productive young couples.....this is for another great grandson due in June.....but as our holiday is booked for end of May......want to get it done and posted soon as poss......

We made the mistake(?)of having Afternoon Tea....Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream....Tiny Triangle Sandwiches.....and Earl Grey Tea.....absolutely delish......BUT.....darn it.....that meant NO COOKING a supper tonight......delightful......so....
I am off to read a book now......will carry on sewing tomorrow......

......Maryz do hope that cough of yours soon packs it bags.....I do know these coughs absolutely wear you out......take care all and see you tomorrow.......Carol

Late to the table - been tile shopping - 3 possibilities - one very pricey - we will see - dinner is sausage tortellini soup.

Mary, I didn't know that :o) Thanks, I'll have to look that up and see if I can find it :o)
We had leftovers tonight :o) I have my kitchen all cleaned up plus all the things that get laid on my bar from the week with Easton :o)
Frankie's putting me in a new tub because I cracked my wonderfully made plastic one of 28 years. Ugh. LOL and now you should see my bathroom, utility room (he has to cut the wall out here to slide the new tub through the wall into the bathroom where it goes...it's a double wide trailer and unless he guts the bathroom we can't get the new tub in) and my living room where things are being moved to, I have trails LOL
