SUPPER CLUB - Mon, March 17th
Happy St. Patrick's Eve!
IRISH - I'm sure learning a lot about Irishmen from you this week! As a "McDonough", I'm soaking it all in! I never met my grandfather, but I've been told he could charm the paint off a battleship! As a 5 yr old boy in Galway, his family made potato vodka and his job was to sit on top of the roof and watch for the British revenuers, or other unwanted guests!
BECCA - I'm glad you are getting in some walking time, especially with your friend. My walks have been curtailed for a while. Between my cold, my sister, and my walking buddy's eye surgery, our doggies are suffering!
CHICKIE - How long will your DGD be staying this visit? Any special projects lined up? And what kind of ravvies did you have? I made some pumpkin ravvies once that actually were quite yum yum!
JANA - how's the kitchen coming? Will it get wrapped up this week?
JOANNE - I saw a big old warming streak coming your way! Are you in danger of any flooding?
Well, I think I'm going to survive if I don't break a rib coughing. Someone on the forum said putting Vicks on the soles of your feet at night can help coughing. I've been doing it and I think it works! At least, for about 3 to 4 hours. But today I join the real world again and will be driving my sister and SIL to meet my DD and have a girls day out. We'll be having lunch at Debbie Macomber's Tea Room in Port Orchard, hitting thrift shops, quilt shops, and whatever else looks good along the way.
As for supper, I haven't planned anything because last week my sis said she planned to take us out to supper somewhere. And if she does, tonite is the night. But if that doesn't happen, I'll make us a quick pasta supper with sliced kielbasa, black olives, basil and tomatoes. And asparagus spears if we stop at the grocery today.
Is there a plan cooking at your house yet?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Mon, March 17th
Good afternoon from a very sunny and getting warmer (almost 60) SW. Pa...This could be window washing day if I put my mind to it.....
Mary, so happy to hear you're on the mend...Love to hear about your Grandfather, that's a true Irish fellow....And I've heard about the potato vodka...Your day sounds just about purrrfect...Just hearing about the places you have in your neck of the woods makes me want to venture out that way, more and more.....Enjoy every minute but don't get overly tired.....
Joanne, we've been getting a lot of news about the flooding in your area...Did those sand bags hold back the water? Always great to see the warmer temps but it always brings high water...Our rivers in Pgh. are edging very close....Too many ice jams up river.....
Not sure just what I'll get into today...Do have sheets in the washer but, they're flannel so they'll be popped in the dryer....Might get to some windows, might....
And as for dinner...I'm making Shepherd's Pie....We're having our Irish dinner today because tomorrow I'm going to a big luncheon and we all know, when I go out, there's no cooking...And, along with the lunch, I need to stop at my sister's to deliver those dreaded curtains and to give her some of my Shepherd's pie...Of all things, she's never made it!
Happy eating............
Did You Know.....Ireland is only 1/2 the size of Arkansas......
AND, here's another....More than 1/2 the soldiers in the Revolutionary War had Irish ancestors......

OK - I may cook in this house - the workers are here - I will have a working island - sink and dishwasher! No stove yet, butvat least I can do dishes. Most would not be doing the happy dance - but I sure am!

Irish, what you all get in Pittsb. we end up getting down here! lol! We're in no danger of flooding (except from the yard..the drive runs down hill right to the work shed/machine shop..hence, the sand bags and plastic).
Tonight is dinner with the Pringles...at Golden Corral...yum...
The temp is going to mid 70's today...(get ready Irish!) Yahooo!
Get well, you all!
Joanne
