SUPPER CLUB - Tues., Mar 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Mar 10, 2015 4:45 am

Good Morning!

I woke up yesterday morning with a sore throat and it got nothing but worse through the day. I laid low, drank lots of hot tea, and ate IBUs for meals. I hope I don't infect all of you. Viruses do travel through cyberspace, you know! lol!

JANA - Please tell Sarah thanks for the info! I'll check out the Ball website for recipes. Sorry the pan didn't suit. I didn't see that it was 12-Volt. How is Stu today? Poor guy!

TINA - sorry you're hurting - could it be too much yard work?

LADY CAROL!!! - so happy to have you back with us! Love your quote. And it's so true. Congrats on a new baby in the family.

IRISH - sorry you have to make curtains. I used to sew all kinds of things from chair cushions to belly dance costumes. But anymore, all I want to sew is quilts.

BECCA - hope your car comes home today. Will they bring it to you since you have no transportation?

CHICKIE - we ate a lot of Spam, too, in our poor days. Kids loved it! we had it with peas in mac and cheese, and most of the other ways you mentioned. We also diced it up and added it, with some mixed veggies, to Top Ramen. My kids would eat anything if I put it in Ramen! lol!

Well, since I'm feeling so yukky, cooking isn't going to happen here tonite. However, I am prepared with frozen things. We have chicken pot pie in the freezer as well as meatloaf that I made and froze last shopping day. I'll let DH choose. We can add baked potatoes and salad to whatever he wants. I wouldnt' mind some homemade chicken soup, but the problem with that is when you need it, you don't feel like making it! But as long as I don't have to stand in the kitchen for a half-hour, I'll be happy!

What will make your tummy happy tonite?

Good morning! Mary—so sorry you caught “it”. Ugh! Please keep it, although I’m tempted to shut down my computer to keep from being infected. Do hope you feel better today!

Jana—too bad the pan didn’t work for you. I just thought… years ago I had one of the first sandwich makers. I used to do eggs on it all the time. It would open like a griddle to use both sides. It also had grill sides if you flipped the plates. Are those still available?

Carol—so happy to see you!

Irish—those photos were stunning!

I think I’ll have to put Spam on my list again. It brought back lots of fun memories. I don’t know that I put it in Ramen… another idea. LOL! I think Ramen would be good for what ails you… with or without the Spam. We used to add frozen veggies to Ramen, too. I still like that as well. DD and I used to go to a little neighborhood store and get 15 cents worth of shaved bologna. We called it our shaved ham and could make that last for a couple of days on sandwiches.

We had some re-runs last evening, so chicken should make it to the table tonight…

Enjoy!!!

Mary, feel better! :-)
Chickie, we ate spam and treat so much as a kid I won't fix it LOL DH says he's glad I won't LOL, he says it sounds disgusting hahaha. He was a farm raised boy and really doesn't like much store bought in a can or box kinda guy :-)
Today is Pretty Little Liars at DD's house but she didn't have a clue what to make tonight and didn't put anything in the fridge to thaw yesterday so I told her I'd make hamburger green enchilada casserole and take it tonight and salad :-)

Good late afternoon from warm but very wet, rainy, SW. Pa...BUT, it's not snow and is so more welcome.....

Oh Mary, I hate to hear you're not feeling up to par...You know, it could be you've been doing way too much and need a long rest...Maybe a rest at a nice warm spa or beach and of course you'll need someone (ME) to make sure you rest.....Boy, that does sound good, think about it! Sure hope you're feeling better real quick....

Carol and I had the nicest chat last evening...So happy to see her back...She has been one busy gal.....

All this talk about Spam has brought back memories...I guess we've all been through the poor times and did have to make the best of what we had...My kids and Jim grew up on Spam...I just might have to get some the next time out....

This was Jim's day with his "slice and dicer". When he visits the dermatologist they know to have their supply of bandages ready...Most of the time, he comes out looking like he's an ad for Band-aids...Today, it was an elbow, other arm and back....But, that didn't deter him from wanting to stop at Red Robin on the way home...And if I might add, YUM!

For our dinner, you guys are going to laugh....We did stop for a few groceries and guess who wanted bologna??? So dinner will be left over veggie soup and a good bologna sandwich...For afters, I made cinnamon rolls and hopefully, there are a couple left.....

Happy eating..............

Good Evening All......very cold first thing this morning but nice and sunny by lunch time.....our daffodils and crocuses are in full bloom...but the snowdrops have gone over.....so.....maybe.....spring is on her way.....

my Abergavenny day today.......do miss seeing some of the friends from the bus.....do see some from time to time.....but its not quite the same....anyway we did hear the bus company that took the contract over only has it for one year.....so fingers are crossed that our community bus will be back again....

started cutting out another baby quilt.....which is why I"m late here today.....forget all about time when I"m at the "cutting table".....

this week-end Cindy and the Bristol family are coming up.....you know what that means.......the dreaded dusting and vacuuming.....ugh....

and so to todays menu.....Pork Chops with Apple Sauce.....Creamed Potatoes....Carrot and Peas.....Jammy Doughnuts for afters.....
take care......carol
