Supper Club, Friday, Jan 23

Post by QuiltGram8 » Fri Jan 23, 2015 1:14 am

I usually wait to see Maryz start this, and then add my two cents.

But I am not sure if I will get back here later. Maryz, I hope you are having safe travels and good eats.

For my dinner tonight, I am trying another recipe in my stash. I wrote this one down quite some time ago, but never tried it.

Corn Chowder: It has corn, potatoes, bacon, cheese, etc. It sounded so good. I have had corn chowder at a restaurant before, but never made it at home. DH isn't sure if it will be a winner or not. I am sure he will like it. I will let you all know later how it comes out.

I tried a recipe the day before yesterday and didn't even post here to talk about it. It was not so good. We ate it so as not to waste the food, but it is not staying in my recipe book. Yuk!!

I think I could make it with my own ingredients and make it better, but we'll have to see, if I venture to try it again. It was called beefaroni. A one dish/skillet meal. It ended up too dry and no flavor at all. Too much tomato sauce not enough something????

Can't wait to see what everyone else is cooking up today.

Pass the love around

Velda, your corn chowder does sound good :-) the beefaroni is one of Jazmyne's favorite dishes :-) but I think it has Italian seasonings so it tastes more on the spaghetti side.
Tonight we might be eating out :-) it's Frankie's birthday :-) LOL this would be a present to me though LOL we'll see.

Good morning!

We will be having more soup here. It's loaded with veggies and some barley and a little whole wheat penne pasta. I just kind of emptied the freezer, some cans and boxes into the pot.

Vel--my late DH used to make something like that and it was yucky. All he used was what seemed like half a box of salt. I couldn't handle it. His chili tasted the same--like a box of salt. Needless to say, he didn't cook much.

Tina--Happy Birthday to Frankie. I can handle beefaroni with Italian seasonings... or Mexican seasonings.

MaryZ--Happy trails and eating!

Jana, Becca and Irish--know you are finding yummy treats for your table, too. Are you finding the yummy banned stuff?

Enjoy!

Good morning,

Don't know what will appear on the dinner plate here tonight.

Sarah and I have been busy sewing all day long. Down to just the diaper bag and bumper pad. The stroller we ordered will be here on Monday. Sarah has the quilt on the LA and is working to finish it up.

I have made corn chowder many times and I love it! My family detests it, so I don't do it unless they are gone. My recipe was bacon, onion, milk, cream corn.

Mary - safe travels!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good late morning from semi sunny but cold, SW. Pa....They keep saying the snow is coming and I'm hoping it goes somewhere else but we'll see.....If by chance we do get snow, I hope we get a lot, so much that no one can get out...Let's get it all and get it over with.....

Velda, I've made some of those dishes where Jim and I just kind of look at each other and shake our heads...Most of the time, I end up taking a new recipe and adding my own stuff and just hope for the best, lol....

Tina, we haven't had beefaroni for quite a while, in fact, since Nicky was here...He made up his own rendition and it was delish...Just might have to put that on my menu for one of these days....Happy Birthday to Frankie and sure hope you get your "present"....

Chickie, I did find some banned goodies and last night's dinner was baked "mac n cheese" filets....SHHHH, we won't tell Mary and I'm sure she'll never find out...You know, I don't want to loose my spot on her favorite list... It's strange about salt...My taste buds sure have changed and I can't use a lot any more...But, I can understand why you didn't let your late DH do the cooking...

Well, not sure what we might be eating today....I usually have a meal in mind and then that idea goes out the window so today, maybe I'll let Jim decide...Hey, we could end up with either hot dogs or a bag of popcorn, who knows.....But, we do have cinnamon rolls that are to die for....This time, not sure what I did but they turned out purrrrfect......

Happy eating.............

This morning while Wash was going I made a big pot of veggie soup & a Chocolate cake DH will be happy.Supposed to be a cold week end so thought the soup would be good.

Well, since Earl fixed breakfast/lunch today..we are stuffed. He fixed eggs, sausage, gravy, fried potatoes and toast! Whew!

So tonight will probably be leftover meatloaf and some mac & cheese!
