Good Sunday Morning!
IRISH - so happy you finally have your quilts in hand! And the timing for Kathy's birthday is purrfect! And now you know - we wuv you!
Friday was a thrift shopping spree, Saturday was a quilt show, Sunday is Seahawks game, and Monday we'll be starting for home in earnest. It's good to be me!
This game is why we lingered in Yuma 2 extra days. We wanted to make sure we could see it, and our friends (who happen to have a large screen TV) invited us to stay. Another couple will be here as well (that we've met several times and like). We gonna have us a party!! With grilled burgers, broccoli salad, and chips. Maybe more. We have to run to the store so we will look for a veggie tray or a sugar free dessert. (both our friends are diabetic so I'm trying to be diet-sensitive. No potato salad.)
So what are you having to celebrate The Big Game?

Irish--sending love to you and Kathy. Hopefully her birthday will be much better with all of our hugs to her.
MaryZ--I have no idea who is in the playoffs. Have a fun time cheering at your own tailgate party. It's good to have friends with a big TV! Hope you find some yummy, diabetic-friendly treats to share. Years ago, we watched super bowl with some friends, and it was always a fun time.
Ham and beans is in our bowls tonight. I'll probably make some cornbread for an accompaniment. IF DH is lucky, I might make a dessert... Key Word: "IF" IF I get in the mood to cook instead of sew...
Enjoy and "Go Seahawks!" Since DH isn't a sports fan, and all my favorite players are retired, I really don't follow football any more. I do miss it, actually. I used to go to all the games at the college when I worked there. When my DGS was about 3 he wanted to have the whole team over for dinner after the game. They were "his Lions." Since I knew him pretty well, I talked to the coach to see if there were any of the team who would be willing to spend a couple of hours with a 3-year-old in exchange for a home-cooked meal. Quickly he had three volunteers, and the next Sunday evening DGS and I picked up three players wearing their practice jerseys. Of course, DGS was in his jersey as well. The players outdid themselves with DGS, and they were such sweet, personable guys. We had a great time together. As long as they were students, they always called hello to me from wherever they saw me on campus and always asked about DGS. That's one of the best memories of working at the college.
Enjoy!
