Good rainy morning! At least we are above freezing! Not by much, but 35* qualifies!

This is our last morning. We'll be hitting the road as soon as it's light. Our day with Autumn didn't go quite as planned. The roads in their area were too dicey so we went to the LeCruscet shop and sent her photos of what was there and she made her choice. We got her an 11.3/4" skillet. And her hubby had us get a saucepan for him to give her. (he's a bit of a last minute shopper). Then we bought the makings for cheese fondue and took it to their house and we cooked together, making one of her favorite meals from her childhood. I used to make it all the time in the 70's and 80's. After goodbye hugs, we drove the hour back to camp and spent the rest of the evening with our good friends here, watching playoff football. (Seahawks won! Sorry, Becca!)

VELDA - One of our standby meals is also Rice-a-Roni, chicken varieties, and I add in canned or leftover chicken. Your canned fruit for 'afters' remindes me of the fruit salads my mom and aunt used to make with fruit cocktail and Miracle whip. If they had a banana, they would add that, too. But usually we didn't get bananas much.

BECCA - I don't envy you going to the phone store. We were in a Verizon store once, waiting, waiting, waiting. I left DH there, went and did our grocery shopping, came back, and he was still waiting. People were sprawled on the floor (no chairs!), eyes glazed, almost asleep. All waiting. It's torturous!

TINA - clear out that forbidden food! I'm coming for inspection!

JANA - anything with gravy and mashed taters gets my vote! So does pizza!

IRISH - when in a different area, we usually try to sample the local joints if we eat out. I think the Melting Pot would have been fun.

CHICKIE - stuffed pork chops sounds delish. I haven't made them in a long time. Cheese fondue is easy. I saute` garlic in butter, make a white sauce, add cheese (I use cheddar), and a bit of white wine. We dipped fresh veggies, Lil Smokies, meatballs, and pieces of french bread. Aut doesn't have a fondue pot so we used her small LaCruscet soup pot (last year's bd gift!).

I'm not sure what tonite's supper will be. But the RV park we are headed for has a little family run cafe, and we might eat there. Gramma cooks, kids wait tables, and if you want any wine or beer, just bring your own in (and your glasses!). You can have meatloaf, chicken, or pork chops. Vanilla ice cream for afters. A fun local place!

Hope your supper is fun, too!

Good late afternoon from not as cold, if you can call 30 balmy, SW. Pa....Tomorrow, we're to have a treat....Snow, Sleet, rain and then turning colder.....Not that I was expecting 79s but geesh......

Mary, sorry you didn't get to the Melting Pot but I'm betting, you could have had bologna sandwiches and it would have been a banquet...Kathy is the one that started me eating at different places...No matter where the girls danced, Kathy would check out the area and find something special...One of the places in Chicago was interesting...You had to wear a silly hat, they threw your silverware and napkins at you and if you weren't ready to order when they came back, you got yelled at......AND, if you didn't clean you plate, you did not get desert...In between serving, the staff would get up on chairs or empty tables and dance and sing... The name sounded like Depeppo or something like that....I really do miss those dance trips...Darn, those girls had to grow up!

By now, you and your traveling family are on their way...Hope all your roads are smooth and straight and the fur babies enjoy the scenery......Safe travels....

I have a feeling we aren't having a "menu" tonight....We ran around 1/2 the day and I'm thinking, if anyone gets hungry, they're on their own.....I'm tired! I just wish the cats knew how to open those cat food cans.....

Happy eating.....................

I don't know about dinner tonight. I picked up a steak for DH at the store, and if he is hungry later I'll fix it for him.

I thought I was starving when I came home from my sister's, Mom's and the store and fixed a plate of veggies and dip. DH came in and said he was hungry, so I fixed some grilled cheese. This was all around 4:00. I think we should just have some soup later rather than a big meal.

Irish--I want to be served when I go out... not have things thrown at me. Not sure that would be my favorite place. I'm really wanting Mexican food again... I like to go try new places, but DH isn't quite as adventurous although he is a pioneer compared to my late DH who thought McDonald's was the ONLY place to go in a new place. HA! I want to experience the ethnic dishes in new areas. I hated the golden arches.

MaryZ--hope you are rolling along and the fur babies are behaving and settling in once again and for new for Foxie.

Enjoy!
