SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 11th

Good rainy morning! At least we are above freezing! Not by much, but 35* qualifies!
This is our last morning. We'll be hitting the road as soon as it's light. Our day with Autumn didn't go quite as planned. The roads in their area were too dicey so we went to the LeCruscet shop and sent her photos of what was there and she made her choice. We got her an 11.3/4" skillet. And her hubby had us get a saucepan for him to give her. (he's a bit of a last minute shopper). Then we bought the makings for cheese fondue and took it to their house and we cooked together, making one of her favorite meals from her childhood. I used to make it all the time in the 70's and 80's. After goodbye hugs, we drove the hour back to camp and spent the rest of the evening with our good friends here, watching playoff football. (Seahawks won! Sorry, Becca!)
VELDA - One of our standby meals is also Rice-a-Roni, chicken varieties, and I add in canned or leftover chicken. Your canned fruit for 'afters' remindes me of the fruit salads my mom and aunt used to make with fruit cocktail and Miracle whip. If they had a banana, they would add that, too. But usually we didn't get bananas much.
BECCA - I don't envy you going to the phone store. We were in a Verizon store once, waiting, waiting, waiting. I left DH there, went and did our grocery shopping, came back, and he was still waiting. People were sprawled on the floor (no chairs!), eyes glazed, almost asleep. All waiting. It's torturous!
TINA - clear out that forbidden food! I'm coming for inspection!
JANA - anything with gravy and mashed taters gets my vote! So does pizza!
IRISH - when in a different area, we usually try to sample the local joints if we eat out. I think the Melting Pot would have been fun.
CHICKIE - stuffed pork chops sounds delish. I haven't made them in a long time. Cheese fondue is easy. I saute` garlic in butter, make a white sauce, add cheese (I use cheddar), and a bit of white wine. We dipped fresh veggies, Lil Smokies, meatballs, and pieces of french bread. Aut doesn't have a fondue pot so we used her small LaCruscet soup pot (last year's bd gift!).
I'm not sure what tonite's supper will be. But the RV park we are headed for has a little family run cafe, and we might eat there. Gramma cooks, kids wait tables, and if you want any wine or beer, just bring your own in (and your glasses!). You can have meatloaf, chicken, or pork chops. Vanilla ice cream for afters. A fun local place!
Hope your supper is fun, too!
