SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Jan 10th
Good Morning!
I have never heard of rolled dumplings. I've always just made the dough and dropped it by big spoonfuls onto bubbling soups or stews.
And yes, they deep fry everything they can find down here in Texas. Though at the fair up home, we actually saw a booth that sold deep fried BUTTER! And no, I did't try it! And deep fried ice cream. Didn't try that either. Normally, I try not to eat anything that has "deep-fried" in its name, but I did have to sample the dill pickles. Good, but salty.
Today is the day we've been sitting here and waiting for - Autumn's birthday. We'll be meeting the kids at the Le Crucet Cookware store so she can choose a new pan for her set. After that we're going to a fondue pot called the Melting Pot for a late lunch. She may be 38 (in a few more hours) but I really think it's made her feel special that we hung around here in Texas so we could celebrate with her. She usually doesn't have family around on holidays and birthdays. And we leave her the evening to celebrate with her hubby and/or friends.
And it leaves the evening to us to watch the Seahawks in their playoff game tonite! Go Hawks!
So that will be our main meal of the day - fondue! One of my favorites and a specialty meal I used to make for our family when they were young.
I hope your supper tonite will be special, too!

Good Morning, Mary.
Your special B-day lunch with Autumn, sounds terrific. I don't know yet, what I will be making for our dinner tonight. It is so dog on rainy and cold today, it makes me think comfort food.
However, we had left over chicken noodle casserole last night, because I had saved some and had it in the freezer. So tonight, I guess I will snoop around the freezer and find something.
One meal that I like that is very easy is: Rice a Roni, beef flavor and make it with a pound of ground meat of your choice. We seem to always use ground turkey.
It is a very tasty meal to us. I add a vegi and a salad and we like canned fruit for dessert. I always buy the fruit that is "no sugar added". It's not so sweet, but a good balance to our meal.
I think that is what I will make tonight. It surely will be a day to stay inside and get that sewing machine going.
We are going dancing tonight. That will be good exercise and always fun.
Have a great day to all of you who stop by to get your taste buds tickled.
Velda

Good morning,
Mary - Happy Birthday to Aut! I love fondue -we had a Melting Pot restaurant in Walnut Creek. It was yummy.
Dinner tonight I think will be pizza from Papa Murphys - we haven't had one foe awhile and I am not in the mood to cook. Tomorrow will be something in the crock pot so I can have gravy and mashed taters.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from, once again, bitter cold, Sw. Pa...I think we're up to a whopping 5 with a terrible wind chill BUT, we might go into the 30s tomorrow...Never thought I'd be excited about 30 degree weather!
Mary, your day really does sound special...And I'm sure Autumn is thrilled beyond words that you will be with her on her day....In traveling with Kathy and the girls, we stopped at a Melting Pot, not sure which city or state but it was sooooo good...Kathy has had us to quite a few strange places but that was one of the best.....
We had the chicken ala king last night and there's enough for 1 more meal...Could be new food for tomorrow......
Happy eating...................

Good afternoon!
Mary—you are probably dipping your fork as I type. What fun! I’ve always wanted to do fondue and never had the opportunity. Hard to believe as popular as it was in the 60s and 70s and now revived. Lucky Autumn to be getting a new piece of Le Cruset!
Irish—we have a heat wave here. It’s 36 but feels much cooler with the wind. Make that COLD! We were 11 this morning. You have me beat, but I have room in my cave!
Jana—I’m seldom in the mood to cook, but we live in the middle of nowhere, so I have to cook. DH manages to survive on my fare.
Tina—YUM!!!
Becca—DH still has a little flip phone. One of these days I’m sure we will be shopping for a replacement. This one has taken a beating over the years.
Vel—I’ve just been out to my freezer for dinner shopping. Have fun dancing!
When I was in the freezer, I found pork chops. I’ll be serving up stuffed pork chops tonight. I’m sure I can find some veggies for an accompaniment. I might have some kind of soup again. My truck was frozen in park this morning, so I didn’t make it to town today. My niece was visiting Mom, and she can’t handle too much company. My coffee friend was out of town, so I stayed in and watched the quilt shows—all were re-runs or re- re- re-runs. I wish the PBS station would get the current shows. Last week I taped two hours of black screen—failure to broadcast which happens all too frequently. Guess if it’s re-runs, it’s not such a big deal.
Enjoy! Happy Birthday to Autumn!
