Good Morning!

Yesterday was awesome! Weather was good and we got a bit of Vit D shining down upon us! in early afternoon, Cindy and Don taught us Spades, then we had a campfire with more folks, then we and our other good friends went back to Cindy's and played Golf until after 10pm! Late for me! But had such a nice time and it was good that our two couple friends hit it off.

JOANNE - just so you know - and don't tell the others - you are my favorite. You have very discerning taste regarding "mac and cheese". The group here has been talking about all getting together to go to a restaurant and hour away that specializes in catf==h. Double ICK! I'm offended that they'd name something so ugly after something so beautiful. It didn't help the ugly at all!

CHICKIE - next time we're together, game on!!

I've lost total control of our menus here. I still have cube steak leftovers in the fridge from Jan 1st. But I'm hoping we can see Autumn today which will mean a meal in a restaurant or at her house. I usually have a 4-day rule about leftovers and we're closing in on that but I'd rather see Aut if I can. We can get new food.

What's for Sunday dinner at your house?

P.S. I forgot to mention that Lady Carol wrote to me. Her Sir has been poorly lately and between caring for him and trying to help family that has also been sick, she's been pretty busy. She hopes to be back to more regular visits to our Supper club soon and asked me to bid you all a cheery hello.

Best wishes to Lady Carol and her Sir. Life can certainly get busy and stressful at times!

Game on--ha, ha!!! I'm sure you will win hands down. The only time I came close to a good hand, I went out with 4 points and got beat so garnered a VERY HIGH score from someone else. Oh well, another game I can allow other people to win...

Tonight... hummmmmm... it's still early. Maybe I can get back to you on that... It might be a potful of ham and 15-bean soup with cornbread on the side... That always tastes good in winter. It's definitely winter here--we have 14 degrees with a MINUS 3 wind chill. I went out and filled the bird feeders and scattered seeds for the cardinals and felt every lack of degree out there! At least the sun is trying to peek out, and I really NEED it!

Good afternoon from sunny, warm spring like, Sw. Pa...BUT come tomorrow and after I'll be complaining about the winter temps....I actually thought I saw a robin hopping around in the yard a while ago?????

SO, Mary, now you have favorites????So, you like her better than me???? Don't we sound like kids, lol.....I will agree with the catf**h, that is double yuck..Gives me shivers just thinking about it...

Joanne, wasn't that a sorry game last night? We were also watching the Penguins and they too lost...Not a good night for Pgh....Oh well, we'll get em next year......

Chickie, I believe it was yesterday, when you said you were going to crawl in a cave and stay until warmer weather...Well, make room for me, I'm right behind you....Just can't get used to the cold....It's pretty hard to do anything when you're so bundled up with heavy clothes and then have an electric throw wrapped around your legs.....

Lady Carol, so sorry to hear DH isn't feeling well...Hope you take care of yourself....

I thought with the new year, all our sad days would be behind but this morning, Jim's aunt passed away...This was his last relative on his mother's side and she was 103...She kept saying, she'd like to make it to 105...Jim had been to see her just a week ago and she was really doing well, except for hearing...His mother was 99 when she passed, so Jim has some good genes.....

Well, not sure what we might be having for dinner....This morning after breakfast, I did pick up some of their soup, so that might just make it to the table...We should light the grill but that would take walking out the door to the patio, think we'll stick with the soup....

Happy eating............

I have a pot of ham and veggie/bean/grain soup mixes (parts of two of them plus some more beans) to which I added seasonings, onion and celery simmering in the oven for dinner. I'll make some corn bread or maybe another bread to go with it... something that I can toast tomorrow.

Irish--So sorry to hear of Jim's aunt's passing. He definitely has good longevity genes! I welcome you to my cave! I'm really getting so I dislike winter intensely and just cannot get warm. I look like Bride of Michelin Man with three shirts, fleece-lined jeans and wool socks. All I need a cute crocheted hat to wear and top off my ensemble. I've also added about 10 pounds of fat, but it gets cold and hard--just like you get on meat at the store, so it's not working out for insulation. Now I need to lose that and each of the ten pounds I've put on the last several winters. I'm thinking I need an electric throw--that sounds neat! I wonder if it would melt the fat???

Chickie, I never thought about this throw melting the fat, that's a great idea.....I'm going to turn it up to BBQ and see what happens.....You might have come up with something!
Of course, if that "person" in this house would stop buying those chips, I might have a chance at getting rid of some of my fat...
