SUPPER CLUB - New Year's Eve, 2014

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:32 am

Good cold Morning!

I tell you, I'm going to have to buy an Alaskan parka if DH insists on coming south for the winter in future years!! brrrr!!! Who knew Texas got so cold!

IRISH - so sorry you had to go to another funeral. Had to be very difficult for you and your DS. But you got out of cooking! Always a plus!

JO - sorry about your RA. I hope it's better in warmer weather. So sorry about Earl's friend.

CHICKIE - and Doyal lost a friend, too!? Something about this time of year, maybe. Yesterday was the anniversary of my dad's passing.

JANA - your words on yucca plants weren't encouraging! They were - well, in a word - YUCCY!

BECCA - glad your DH is up to pizza out!

ABITA - if you go to the Cotton Patch (I think that's the name) in Victoria, Hancock's is very close by, too. Their fabric was poor quality but they had a lot of fun things, notions, etc. I got a cross-stitch project there on a great sale.

TINA - no, the polesaw was purchased. It was Ryobi brand. I gave it to Bill for his birthday a few years ago. It really works great! It extends 10' to 12'. And when I lift Bill up in the bucket of the tractor, he gets another 4' to 5'! It's electric so he uses the generator when we're out in the woods on our property. and I'm sorry to tell you, much as he'd love to show it to Frankie, and even use it to trim those trees for you, we are leaving it with Autumn and Aaron. Bill ran over their 10' nippers so he told the kids rather than buy them a new one, he'd leave the polesaw for them, which is a better deal for them and we won't have to haul it home. But check it out on=line. It was about $140 I think.

now on to supper! Because, that's what we're all about, right? Several couples in the campground are going to the Longhorn Steakhouse tonite. It's sort of a NYE tradition. Cindy G and Don will hopefully be here in time to go with us, but if not, we'll catch up with them when they do get here.

whatever you do - party hearty or snooze with no booze - be safe, enjoy, and have a happy, healthy New Year.

We are 13 this morning with a "feels like" 2 degrees. Now, that's YUCKY!

As for yucca plants... I think they are beautiful and have transplanted some. I think they look like beautiful chandeliers with their candles of white flowers. I guess one person's ugly is another's pretty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I see beautiful, creamy white flowers that grow with little fuss on my part--my favorite kinds! You all knew I was a little bit crazy... just one more proof statement.

We will be with our friends this evening, and I made lots of goodies... some healthy, some not so healthy.

Happy new year!

Happy New Years Eve to all my quilting friends. Just DH and I this last day of the year which means I will spend the day sewing. YEAH! Lasagna, salad, and garlic bread is on the menu here tonight. I assemble the lasagna the night before to make it easier on my day and I think it gives it a chance to build better flavor too. I do have a bottle of sparkling blueberry wine to go along with it. May not make it to midnight but that's ok. Hope you all have a safe New Years Eve and God bless you all.

Good morning,

OK guys, I have the cold temps today - it is minus 2 outside right now and the sun has been up for a couple of hours too. Our high is only 15 today. Break out the Nannook of the Artic parkas and gloves! Cold enough to freeze any and all of you!

The kids are partying - playing games and food at Sarah's tonight - we will stay here with the warm fire, Father Brown and Perry Mason. Dinner will be taco soup. I will make some snicky snacks - onion dip and mac & cheese dip (crab), chips and summer sausage. We will toast the new year with seven-up.

Enjoy - be safe!

Good afternoon from sunny, cold, (not as cold as Jana's) SW. Pa....
Jana, please, please keep that cold on your side of the country...Already, I've had too much and feel we're in for lots more....Normally, I'd be getting ready to go south but this year, it's not gonna happen unless I can talk Jim into leaving cold, gorgeous, wintery, SW. Pa....(Don't think that's gonna happen either).....Jana's right, break out the parkas.....

Mary, I really had a laugh (to myself) when reading about your saw...When I got to the part where you lift him up.....All I could vision is you lifting him on your shoulders....See what this cold weather does to me????

Becca, once again, our last night's dinner was great...We had 1 steak/cheese and an Italian, Oh so good! And I think of you every time I stop or even go past....Hope DH is up to going out to eat..Next year is going to be much better....

Well, not sure what's on our menu for later...I still have ham and could make some hot ham/cheese sandwiches with soup...Tonight as we've done for so many years, we'll go to our best friends house...Ted and Donna are the kind of neighbors everyone should have...We go about 7:00, sit and drink coffee and eat left over cookies and then about 9:00 have a glass of wine and come home...They don't call us party animals for nothing....Quite a few years, we haven't made it to midnight but you know, it happens whether we're awake or not.....

Wishing everyone a safe, happy New Year's Eve and the best of everything in the New Year!

Love to all..............

Tonight will be homemade Navy Bean with Ham Soup and Cornbread. We will probably go see a movie and come home and go to bed before midnight. Tonight is going to be very cold! I want to go to Mass tomorrow morning, watch the parade and go to the gym. I don't think I can do all of those things, however there are repeats on the parade throughout the day. We do not have cable so will not be able to see the Rose Bowl game. It is really about the only game I used to watch. Oh well.

Becca, mmmmmmm Subway sounds yummy! :o) I've had it once this whole year! When we go to Walmart it's in the entryway and man does it smell goooooooood! :o)
Chickie, Yucca is our state flower :o) and I love em and did you know there's also a red yucca? I've been trying to get 1 started but so far no luck. It says on the Internet that they're easy to grow psh not for me!
Rhonda, mmmmmm your lasagna sounds yummy too! :o) I could just make the rounds at everyones house huh LOL It's just going to be me and DH this year, the 1st NYE since we've been married that it'll be that way! Wowzers

I'm not sure what we'll eat. I haven't had pizza in ever, but as cold as it is soup would be good. I'll have to think about it, maybe Frankie will bring something home :o) I'd like no cooking LOL
Tina
Carol, I missed you, bean soup and cornbread, now that a winner! And a movie to boot!

Hello Supper Club......

Tonight is leftover meatloaf and pinto beans, maybe some hoe cakes on the side.

Already settling in with a glass of wine, cause we never make it to see the new year come in. Lol........we did used to party......once upon a time. Actually there used to be a horse show every New Years Eve that we went to, but no more.

Cut and lacquered shelves for my bookcase wall today, chilly out there running the saw, but tomorrow DH is going to help put everything together.

Happy New Years.
