Good morning!

Things are much quieter now. New kitty is settling in and almost starting to play with Scottie. But make no mistake - life is still very active and wary in our little 200 sq foot slice of heaven! lol!

JOANNE - how did your trip to KY go yesterday? Did you buy anything naughty? and by that, I mean overindulge in fabric, etc, of course.

CHICKIE - You warned us you would be eating ham, ham, and more ham. My MIL used to dice it up into mac & cheese. always my menu choice for my birthday. and I like it in split pea soup. Probably is, those dishes don't use up enough of the ham and leave even MORE leftovers!

CAROL - I loved seeing your photos and your caravan! So great to have a little window into your life. Enjoy your last caravan weekend. I can picture you in the pub right now! I was fortunate enough to do a little pub crawling through the English countryside 11 yrs ago. Loved those pubs (not to mention some of the pub-minders. ;o) )

JANA - white soup? I'm sure you mean potato or cauliflower soup - right??

VELDA - sometimes I make a small meatloaf like usual, but pop it into the crockpot on top of some quartered onions. I stick a few potatoes in with it - sometimes like in a pot roast and sometimes like baked potatoes. Usually it turns out pretty good. But if you have a special recipe, I'd like to hear it.

IRISH -- We all have that special cat in our lives. Mine was Tango, a tuxedo, of course, which is why I love B/W tuxedos so much. He was like my best friend. He's been gone now for 17 yrs and 3 days. And I think Foxtrot is going to be much like my Tango when he settles down and grows up. And you are right - I need to get a photo of Foxtrot on here, don't I. I've used up almost all of my (free) photobucket room and need to figure out how to delete some of the old stuff on there so I can put new things in. also, I don't know yet how to take post pix from my new phone. But soon!

Tonite we are going out as part of a group of ten people from our campground to the Longhorn Steakhouse. After that, we've rented a big van and driver to take us into Austin (we 'live' 35 miles north of Austin in Georgetown) to go see a show called Esther's Follies. We're promised we will be in pain afterward from laughing so much. This will be the first time leaving our new, blended family all along TOGETHER. I told Bill we should tie our little Christmas tree to the wall!

bon appetit`

Good Morning Maryz and all......

My meat loaf turned out just fine. We do not use ground beef. We are ground turkey people. The texture is so different with Grnd turkey, so I just followed my own meat loaf combinations.

The recipe called for lining the crock pot with foil, then spray the foil with cooking spray. That works GREAT!!!

The recipe topped the loaf with catsup, which I will next time reduce to just brushing the top with a little catsup. That made the loaf look pretty to serve, but it was too thick for our tastes.

My crock pot is so small, I wasn't sure it would fit and was not sure if the timing would work, but it cooked in 3 1/2 to 4 hours. I will do better with it next time. This first try was a learning curve.

Tonight we have left overs, but I will make some fresh cooked potatoes and a different vegi.

I always enjoy seeing what everyone is cooking. I hope to be able to sew a little more on my quilt again.

Hugs to all
Velda

Good morning! Yes, ham, ham and more ham! I’ll be making mac ‘n cheese when I get some macaroni. I may make some split pea soup, too. Like you said, more left overs! I can deal with that—less cooking! I also want to make a quiche with broccoli and ham.

After a day of craziness yesterday—3+ hours at the automotive repair, we picked up Chinese takeout for dinner. We have leftovers of that, too.

Mary, your outing tonight sounds like a blast! Have fun!

Vel—I do like the idea of lining the crock pot—never thought of the spray. Duh! I sneak turkey in with beef. Remember, we are a beef farm.

Have a great day!

Good afternoon from semi dreary, cold, SW. Pa....I told Jim, it's time for me to hibernate, wake me when it's spring or at least 75 degrees......

Mary, what a fun evening you have planned...And also very trustworthy to leave the furbabies alone....I was just telling my neighbor, Donna, about your new addition...Of course when I told Jim, he just said, Oh my, lol....I just wish I had the room and the funds to provide a home for lots of cats/kittens....Almost all of my sweat shirts are cat related and just the other day, in line at Subway, a lady said, she'd love to have my shirt.(no I didn't come home shivering)..Cat people are special.....

This is Jim's bingo day and I'm headed for the sewing room....And our dinner will probably be baked pork chops and left over scalloped potatoes........Ice cream for afters.............

Happy eating.........

Good Evening All......its cold......I must be a wimp.....but I don't care......I don't do cold......got my flannel jammys ready for tomorrow and the hot water bottles.....and a couple of quilts......must be getting old too.......

I have a quilt I wanted to finish before the week end......now wouldn't you just believe it.....my machine has decided to throw a wobbley.....thread all nesting on the back(doing a decorative stitch on the binding....so now I am going to walk away from it and hope by Monday it has stopped being a prima donna and I can complete...I don't think that stitch is on my new machine........

todays menu.....Egg and Chips.....Baked Beans.....Coffee and Walnut cake for afters

Irish.....we always used to take a vote on where we went for our Christmas meal meet.....when I discovered the fabric shop.....I voted for this site every year.....because it was such a good site the others went along with it......but very nearly got undone couple of years ago......it was badly flooded.....but the site people managed to get an area drained.....so...saved at the last moment......now I just think.....I am meant to visit that shop......(my excuse and I"m sticking to it)

Irish, we are definitely sisters--anything under 75 degrees is winter and too cold for me!

Lady E--when I was a kid we took hot water bottles or hot bricks wrapped in a towel to bed with us. My sisters and I slept upstairs in an unheated area --lots of quilts! My favorite was an indigo prints with white muslin in a cake stand or basket pattern.

Good afternoon!

Carol - we have a saying in this family - came from my oldest grandson, when he was about 4 - "I wannabe waaaarm" - it is used quite often here in Utah and now little Ethan says it too.

Dinner wasn't the banned white soup and when I took Michael grocery shopping with me - all the ingredients for torilla soup appeared in the basket - I got the hint. I think that he will turn into tortilla soup one of these days! LOL So that is dinner here. No afters, his numbers are too high. But the smell of sugar will be here shortly - the baking and candy making is starting! I just found out for our Christmas party for the Activity Day girls, I am making cookies and hot chocolate. So I will do a fancy cookie for them as well as my Russian teacakes and maybe a brownie with caramel swirls. We will see.

Well I need to run out - Daniel needs his birth certificate - I have the only copy - for his new job, so will have to overnight it to him.

Enjoy,
Jana
