SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Nov 18th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 18, 2014 1:54 am

Hi, y'all!

(do I sound Texan yet? can you 'hear' my drawl??)

IRISH - I love the sound of your GGD! and he has a good name. Scottie was almost "Gunner", too, until Autumn suggested Scottie. As soon as we heard it we knew that was the name for our little Scottish dog.

CHICKIE - Bill and I were laughing at your comment that Doyal will eat anything that doesn't eat him first. Does he know you hide veggies in his food? If so, does he mind?

TINA - I love using beans as a meat substitute as I'm not much of a meat-eater. and Bill loves them, too. Hence - any kind of beans over baked potatoes or rice is one of our favorite meals.

Well, we did end up with enough casserole for another night. So dinner is planned! My son HATES one-dish meals and my SIL gave him a casserole and a can of Cr of Mushroom soup once for Christmas. Next year for SIL's birthday, he got the same gift back. And that book and soup have been rolling around the Christmas tree and birthday cakes in our family ever since! Kids!!

Bon Appetit`!

Mary—yes, you’re sounding more Texan every day. Sometimes I tell Doyal I hid veggies in his food; sometimes I don’t. He’s good natured about it. He came home from coffee one day and said the guys were talking about quinoa—one of the wives had made something with it. He had told him he didn’t eat keen-wah. I laughed and said, “Oh, yes, you do!” I hide it in a lot of stuff. He seemed mortified to know I’d pulled another one over on him. He doesn’t look like he gets too many veggies, does he?

I try to “cut” meat with beans or quinoa or lentils any way I can—just don’t think we need so much, and I’m not much of a meat eater anyway.

That’s funny about the casserole gift! My late DH was the same way. We have friends who will NOT eat any leftovers or second-time-around. Hard for me to believe. A lot of things taste better the second time, and left over steak makes the best fajitas…

Tonight, I have one last round of re-runs… then I must cook tomorrow night unless it’s Chinese take-out after carpet shampooing.. I shouldn’t have to work at that then be expected to come home and toil in the kitchen… right?

Afternoon from sunny but very cold SW. Pa....We're only going into the low 20s today...Sure not my kind of weather.....

Mary, I can hear your "drawl"...It's funny about the name, "Gunner"...I've been hearing it more and more...Andy refers to him as "the love of his life"....

Left overs on our table tonight...The chicken ala king is always better the 2nd night.....The cinnamon rolls were put on hold but I did make a gingerbread....We all know Jim can't go too many days without his goodies......

Happy eating.............

Hi y'all from south La. Hey Mary, you "sound" like you're from Texas or Louisiana. Welcome back to the sweet south! Brrr Nellie it is way too cold this early. We have low temp records being broken all around the area. I just hope no broken pipes. We are having chicken noodle soup for supper. Stay warm, Abita
