SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Oct 7th
Howdy, all y'all!! I'm home from camping. I'm glad to see you're all eating well and regularly.
CAROL - good to hear from you!.
BECCA - so sorry you had to miss another wedding. Hope your DH is feeling well enough to attend the next one!
JO - so was the new restaurant good?
We returned home from camping (where we missed no meals at all, let me assure you!) about noon on Monday. We came home to sad news - our friend, Lois, was dying and we rushed to see her but arrived 5 min too late. But now - I know this sounds like a cliche` - but she's truly in a better, pain-free place. And once the shock ebbed, as the afternoon and evening progressed, Warren actually looked like, despite his sadness, a huge weight of worry was lifted from him. We had supper with him and his family (burgers and fries) and toasted Lois with a Budweiser. She loved her Bud!
But for tonite, I'm tossing chicken on the grill, making some rice, and we're NOT having brussels sprouts! But we just might have another Bud . . .

Mary, glad you had a good time glamping
sad news about Lois but good she's no longer in any pain.
I'm not sure what our supper will be tonight. I'm taking my Christmas quilt to drop it off in Cruces, an hours drive away and I'm hoping to pick up DS and take him out to eat. He's been so upset about his pickup truck getting stolen he hasn't been able to eat or sleep and he's been sick to his stomach
He told me last night "but you and Dad bought it for me and I've had it for 10 years and it's taken me everywhere"! He looked up the value last night and it's only actually worth under $500 but it was his and it got him from point A to point B. It's just heartbreaking.
Tina

Tina--your poor son! Seems like no one wants to work so they steal. I wonder if it was a druggie that took it to the scrap yard for money for a fix. There have been refrigerators and things stolen off front porches for the scrap metal. (I know, what is a refrigerator on the porch for? They were changing them and hadn't gotten it to the garage for a beer box yet.) Maybe it was someone who really needed transportation. So sorry for your son!
Mary--enjoy your dinner! I would help you with the sprouts--not DH. I know how Warren felt having been a long-term caregiver for a terminal patient. There's both loss and relief.
Tonight we are having stir-fry... dare I say it? ... shrimp and veggies. I'll probably make some rice or quinoa or both for under it. There's some apple crisp left for DH for after. I'll have a cup of coffee.

Good afternoon from sunny, chilly but gorgeous, SW. Pa...Our trees are really starting to put on a show...
Welcome back Mary...I did google your camp site and I can see why you'd have a great time...What a pretty, pretty place...So sorry about Lois but as you've said, she's at peace..It would be sad for Warren but also a huge load lifted from his shoulders...
Tina, I feel so bad for your son...Just thinking if it were one of mine and what they'd be going through, it's terrible....
Yesterday, since I had gone to lunch, Jim had to resort to a bologna sandwich and home made tomato soup...But, he did have swiss cheese on it, so don't feel too bad for him....
So, today, we're having spaghetti and meatballs...Have the sauce and meatballs in the slow cooker...AND I'm even going to mix up some more banana/nut bread and a couple apple pies...The bread I'll put in the freezer but the pies will go directly to Jim's tummy.....
Happy eating..................

Good evening,
Game will be on in just a few - dinner will be quick - chicken, rice pilaf, and a veggie - nothing fancy, just something to fill the tummy!
Enjoy,
Jana
