Pics of DD's homecoming Mum. This thing was $75.00 made to her specifications at Michaels.

OK - do they wear these, carry them? It is wonderful, but I have never heard of this homecoming tradition - either here in Utah or California.

Jana, they wear them similar to a corsage. they are a BIG thing here in Texas, and if I not mistaken Texas is the only state that makes a big thing about homecoming. I have made a few in my time. The cost to buy a small one can run $50.00. The big ones in the hundreds. Guys wear garters, a smaller version of the mum.

Wow! Things have really changed since I went to homecoming 51-54 years ago in Kansas. We had homecoming mums, too. The pep club sold them for 50 cents or a dollar. They were "real" snowball mums and were about 5" across. Ours were yellow as our colors were blue and gold. Of course, our prom dresses didn't cost what they do now, even adjusted for inflation. I would hate to have daughters or sons in school now.

The mum is amazing! They definitely go over the top for Texas football, don't they!

DD was a cheerleader and they wore them either as garters or on their arms! Gosh they were huge! Theirs always had mega phones, pom poms, footballs and helmets and anything else to do with cheerleading during Homecoming ) they were $100 10+ years ago here and they do spirit week, parades, powderpuff games where the girls play football and the boys dress up like cheerleaders! Just tons of stuff here, their Homecoming was last week ) I'm glad I don't have the expence any more ) Jazmyne was wearing a 5" for the parade and it had all the dangling ornaments too, I didn't buy it neither did DD, I don't remember who she said did though.....she loved being on the float in the parade though )

This is a medium size version. They wear them all week to show school/team spirit. It is a HUGE thing here. My older girls had them as well 10+ years ago, and they were expensive back then.

This is the last homecoming mum for her. They lost the game, but had a really great time. Me and DH too!

What is the homecoming tradition? I'm not familiar! Canada do things differently.. But I love the blue ribbon décor... Very cheerful..

We have social before a wedding traditional solely to MB & Sask. A dance to collect money for the couple.. Just to say some traditions vary..

OK, I understand what it is now. It sounds like a fun idea. We didn't have Homecoming in high school. I do remember going to a Homecoming football game & dance at my boyfriend's collage. I did wear a pom pom mum. Thanks for reminding me.
