SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Sept 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 25, 2014 3:30 am

Good Morning!

It will be showery today, but not truly rainy. Our weather turned almost at the moment of the autumn equinox! Uncanny. We'll be in the 60's from now on, but were in 80's last week.

CAROL - your quote for the day is pretty much spot on!!

BECCA - Happy half-birthday to you, too! Is Keith's property near the water? It's a very pretty area.

IRISH - your gas is $3.39??? I might run to your station to fill up next time! lol! Graham crackers with chocolate frosting sandwiched in betweeen is our go-to dessert in this house 'cuz no one bakes much for us.

TINA - I do agree that the sprouts do have a certain, off-putting "aroma" about them. I never ate one raw, but if raw oysters are considered edible (in some households. Not this one!), then I would think you could down a raw sprout.

JANA - we'd heard on the news that a lot of firefighters were being added to the King fire and I wondered if that meant your Daniel, too. Do you think he'll ever move to Utah?

LYN - Many times my supper plans morph into something else after I check the fridge/freezer/pantry. I'm lucky that I have a DH that would be happy with a PB&J if that's what I served him.

We have some sausages and 'kraut left from last night, so that may hit the plates tonite. Though I often toss in a few red pepper flakes just for a bit of zip, but not enough for heat. Well, I got a little heavy-handed last night and it was pretty spicey! Not sure if DH wants that again. My back-up is grilled chicken, rice, sliced tomatoes, and (Tina, hide your eyes!) more brussels sprouts. I bought them on a fresh stalk and turns out there's a week's worth of them!

Hope whatever you have, it's tasty!

Good morning,

Mary - no, I doubt we will ever get Daniel here in Utah. His current excuse is that there are no rice farms here! The farmer Sarah works for wants to expand his farming and move to Southern Utah, and needs a manager for the operation here, Daniel would be perfect, but we can always hope!

Dinner ended up the leftovers and even for Michael is was too spicy. Tonight will be more in the bland area - LOL I make soup. Sorry, it is the white banned kind, but a favorite here.

Graham crackers and chocolate frosting is well loved here too.

Enjoy,
Jana

Hi, All--still no computer. We had the orange PNW special with creamed veggies and noodles last eve. I added a can of chicken to the leftover veggies... page from your book, Mary, so tonight will be chicken casserole.

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, purrrrfect, Sw. Pa.....You know one of these days, I won't be saying that.......

Mary, when you come to fill up on our gas, I'll give you my card and you'll get it cheaper...Now, that's a deal too hard to pass up, right???? It's kind of funny when you see people filling up all their gas cans, knowing they are really getting a reduced rate...I think we use more gas in the lawn mower than we do in the car, lol.....

Becca, sorry to hear about HD's problems...But, soup is good...I think I could live on soup and crackers...I have to laugh everytime I think how excited we get with a good "tinkle", lol.....

Well, I have no idea what might appear on our table tonight...Jim has gone to help with the bingo and hopefully the ladies will feed him good...Last week, he was really in his glory...They gave him a big container of all the cakes that had been brought in.....If nothing else, there's always hot dogs and beans or grilled cheese....
And speaking of graham crackers, we don't even get to the chocolate icing, but sometimes, I spread them with butter...(Paula Dean would love them).......

Happy eating...............

Mary, before I forget...the meatloaf was sliced raw and grilled on foil..or you can shape patties...it's really good and FAST!

Last night was mama's grill..tonight will be the leftover meatloaf and fried mashed potato patties...and I'm making a broccoli/cheese casserole. There's a cherry strusel pie from Market Day in the oven baking now.

Is anyone watching Survivor???

Joanne
