Have you every wondered why you took up quilting
I have begun to wonder. As you know I was sick last year and dear husband was sick most of this year. So he was feeling better and I decided to organize my fabric. Got that all finished so decided to maybe complete the quilts that I made this year and last year. Down to my last four, when my son walks in He says I want a new quilt for Christmas. I say ok. I have a bunch of tops that are finished, just need putting together. So I look through the patterns and find one that he likes. I drag it out and decide the tops need organizing. So I had my husband order some more of the Polar Notions organizers In the mean time I notice that my daughter posted that Gavin was making two of nieces a Frozen Quilt. She now has orders for two more for him to make. Never asking me if I had time to help him with them. I had decided to make her a quilt, once again going through those tops already made. So I had husband to call oldest grandson if he wanted one also. Of course he said yes. so I have until the week before Thanksgiving to get this done. By then I will have the new Go Big that husband so sweet to let me get. So I can deal with all my scraps.
I have now finished 9 quilts in three weeks falling asleep at the sewing machine, So deciding to take a break and talk to you ladies instead. So have a nice day and quilt until you drop.

You have been busy! So glad to hear you are feeling so much better. My granddaughter has now taken up quilting with me when she visits. It's so much fun. Great job, Gavin!

I took up quilting when I stopped at a quilt shop to buy my Mom a quilting tool that my DSIL had shown me. They had a Hot Air Balloon wall hanging kit. I was flying balloons at the time and bought it. And as they say....the rest is history.

Took up quilting, mother was dying of ALS she was struggling emotionally with not having time in her life left to finish the quilt assigned to me, her sister took on the task of finishing in her name.
Little did I understand this little cuffle between 2 sisters, claiming I would never in my life learn this silly craft but I would work and buy my comforters you know mind of a youth..
After her passing I was 21yrs. no mother, seeing all the mothers with their daughters taking bus trips tog. arguing, and tears would come how I wished this for mee.
Took quilting felt I owed it to her to learn, and discovered myself, my history and reasons for quilting. Rest is history..

Hi from south LA, I took up quilting from my DH's grandmother. She hand cut, hand pieced, and hand quilted different sizes of quilts to supplement her little Social Security check. Both of my grandmothers past away knowing how to sew, knit, and tat lace without teaching any of us those arts. I was determined not to let another tradition pass me by. I've been learning for 33 yrs! DGMIL(dear grandmother-in-law) made me rip out a many crooked seams, but I will forever be grateful for her patience. Someday I hope to share this gift with the next generation. Who are you teaching?? Please don't let your knowledge and skills pass with you. Quilting in Abita Springs
