SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Sept 23rd
good Morning! welcome to my half-birthday! I made it!!
CHICKIE - sorry the bag is proving to be so difficult. I don't like making bags and they always turn out to be just a grand waste of good fabric and my sewing time. So I just don't do even try any more. My DH LOVES homemade soup of any kind. He even likes split pea now, which he didn't when I first met him.
IRISH - Your poor boy has really been through the wringer. I really can't imagine what you, as his mom, are going through. I remember being a basket case when my Autumn had jaw surgery when she was 16. I cried in the chapel the entire time! And she was just having her lower jaw advanced - wasn't sick like Chriss. I'm so glad he's asking to talk to someone, He will be so relieved, I feel sure.
LYN, yes, we're going south early this year to spend the holidays with Autie. We're leaving on/about Nov 8. However, we are going camping at the ocean Oct 1-6, and then to Yakima with several friends Oct 9-13 for a wine-tasting trip. After that it will be a scurry to get the house/yard in shape to leave and the trailer packed for 3 months of living. We'll be at Georgetown Lake COE campground in Georgetown, north of Austin. Beautiful setting for $12/night with hook-ups. Can't beat it.
BECCA - how do you fix your okra? I've never had it.
TINA - I often plan meals purposely for the leftovers. Though sometimes I go overboard and we're eating those leftovers for days! lol!
JO - isn't Smokey Bones a chain? I've heard of it, though to my knowledge there isn't one around here. Are they affiliated with Olive Garden and Red Lobster? Even when we watch Dancing 'live, we DVR it for about 45 min and watch something else. Then we can zoom past all the commercials and still end up ending the show about the regluar 'live' time. Amazing how much of our live is spent not only in front of the 'tube', but watching those commercials! About 16 min. out of each hour!
Now on to supper. I have some boiled potatoes in the fridge. I think we'll either dice and fry those with onions, or maybe top with a creamy soup and some cheese and bake them, or just season and bake them. Add brussels sprouts that I bought on the stalk at Trader Joe's yesterday, and a pork chop. I should make a cake for afters, but freeze half the cake so I don't feel so compelled to eat it all before it gets stale!
Hope that's inspiration for someone! probably inspiration to go out! lol!

I finished the bag yesterday. Have to say it is really pretty. I left out a couple of steps and had to make do rather than do some serious unsewing... no way do I do that!!! Only I know I goofed up. Now I want one. We will see. The dogs and I walked out and played lumberjack with DH for a break afterwards. We also took apples to the cows.
Tonight will be PNW's special treat grilled with rosemary, baked potato and salad. Apple crumble for dessert.
I'm hoping my new computer will get here soon.

Tonight is leftover chicken soup, it was yummy and very simply made, no bells and whistles LOL
The B&W quilt just needs it's borders sewn together and then sewn onto the top! Yippee, almost done!
Mary, brussel sprouts, ocky, I'd say that's my forbidden food here LOL hope you enjoy them though
Chickie is there a particular kind you like? Alaskan cod is one of my favs

So Mary, sounds like you will be in Texas in time for the quilt show. Are you coming?
Happy 1/2 Mary!!
Chickie - I take PNW is code for forbidden food caught in water?
I think I will pull some brats out of the freezer, to grill, and Parmesan roasted zucchini for the veggie.
Lyn

Good morning,
Blues Clues is entertaining my little one - I can think about what's for dinner. With the chill in the air, it's time for soup. I have all the ingredients for a minestrone with some fresh baked bread.
We love PNW here, favorite is the orange one, but love most of all that swims.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from sunny, getting warmer, purrrfect, Sw. Pa...And besides that, it's gorgeous!
Mary, you sure do put a lot of road beneath those wheels, don't you? Camping by the ocean, wine tasting, life is good...Or should I say, "It's good to be Mary"....I did hear, gas is to go down pretty low, or lower and I told Jim we should go somewhere...Know it when in 1 ear but not sure if that thought stayed or went straight through, lol...We do normally go to Seven Springs ( a resort not too far from here) but that's after the leaves start changing.....
I think every Mom feels the pain when their kids are hurting, no matter how old that "kid" might be...Poor Kathy is worried she won't be able to take care of him if he comes home soon...But, she's a tough gal...As Vicky always says, Keep Looking Up......
Becca, I've only had okra once and it was on a buffet in Florida...They had breaded it and it was the best thing....I kept going back for more....I, too, need to know how you fix it....
Joanne, Smokey Bones is one of our favorites...My lunch gals and I will make a special trip just for lunch...They had a spinach salad topped with breaded mushrooms that was to die for but they did away with the mushrooms.....But, it is a darn good place to eat......
I have to laugh at you girls and the banned food...We do "sneak" a few of those meals in, here and there...But, you know, you can't get anything past Mary!
Menu time right? I got chicken out of the freezer and I'm thinking chicken ala king over toast....And then if I play my card right, I'll have enough for tomorrow's dinner......I might even break down and bake something.......(I think we've had chicken quite a few times so far this week...If Jim starts sprouting feathers, I'll know to cook something else)......
Happy eating.............

I'll take anything that comes out of the water, but this is the orange one. We need to drop a line in the pond s here... no luck recently.
Tina, I do like Brussels sprouts. One of DD's friends called them "little cabbages from he--." Vicky had a great tip for cooking them quickly--cut an X on the bottom. I have been using it for cooking artichokes more quickly too.

Chickie, the last bag I made was a nightmare! It was a Christmas gift for DGS's finance..zebra stipe..she loved it..I'll never do another! I did make two at once though, so if someone loves it I have another gift.
Irish, my prayers for Chris...
And our weather matches yours! Gorgeous!!!
I'm not a big fan of soup...but I LOVE brussel sprouts!! Earl, too.
Ok..dinner...I've defrosted a small meatloaf and cut it into slices..Earl will grill it on the grill..and I'll have "real" mashed potatoes and gravy (I peeled the potatoes earlier and they are in the salted cold water)..and some green beans that Earl canned this year.
