Hi y'all from south LA, We have just picked a bunch of pears. I usually put them up peeled, cored and in a light or medium sugar syrup. They turn out delish, but I was wondering if y'all have some different canning pear recipes. Temps have not dropped much, but my Tiger Lilies are blooming marking Fall is around the corner. Prayers going to all.

You might want to make pear jam with some of them.

Go to the Ball canning website or the University of Georgia's canning site. They have tested recipes that are known to be safe to use, Many old family recipes can cause problems, that is why we use those sites.

My DD, Sarah is a Master Preserver and uses those sites to teach canning here in Utah.

She will can pear halves, pear jam, pear syrup, and even juice pears.

Anymore questions, just ask, she loves to help.

I always made pear chutney. It has onions ,peppers, rasins and spices in a sweet- sour sauce and is delicious on turkey sandwiches. I used a recepie from in a pickle, in a jam and do not know if it is still in print, but likely the food sites will have the recepie. I add as I cook and put it in the fridge. It keeps quite a while. Also, have you ever made pear salad with cream cheese and lime jello and whipped cream (or use creamy cool whip instead of the cream? Also, I make pear bread--use a brioche and add sliced pears,crasins--not rasins and cpopped hazel nuts when it is done, brush with butter and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar on it while hot--great b-fast
