SUPPER CLUB - Mon, Sept 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Sep 15, 2014 4:26 am

And there goes the first half of September! Whoosh!!

Yesterday I got some significant yard work done and I'll do some more this morning after my walk and after I get sheets on the line. But this afternoon I'll be inside doing something yet to be determined.

We're out of leftovers and it's time to move on to new food! I think, though, we'll just have burgers tonite. It's supposed to be hot again today - our last hot day of the year, probably, at 87*, and perfect for grilling. I rarely make a side when we have burgers except for perhaps salad 'cause we just don't need that much food anymore. And if I make it, we eat it. I like the black bean vegetarian burgers - I think it's Morningstar brand - from the good folks at Costco. DH likes turkey or beef.

What culinary ideas are filling your head for tonite?

I think I'll fix chicken or pork chops on the grill, salad and a veggie, maybe asparagus.
I've been going nonstop this morning, DD and grands spent the weekend here and did my house look like a tornado hit it! I have most of it done now but Easton demanded a bottle LOL so I have to take a break for now.

MaryZ--I think we are back up to the high 80s today, too. We go up and down this time of year. I like the veggie burgers, too; but you know we live on a beef ranch. DH gets the beef, and I get the veggie ones when I buy them. Sometimes I have turkey burgers. I pile all my salad on my burger--definitely no side needed.

We went fi..ing yesterday with no luck. I made pizza for dinner instead. We will have it for dinner tonight, too. Mine is all veggie, and DH's is pepperoni. We're having lunch out with some of DH's former co-workers, so dinner will be pretty light.

Good morning,

The banned food will grace our plates tonight - need a run to the grocery store for some fresh veggies to with it.

I am in the mood for some fresh baked bread - so will get out my wheat grinder and mill up some flour to make it. That will only dirty one bowl and two bread pans.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from sunny, warm, not hot, SW. Pa...We're only to get into the low 70s but with the sun, it does feel good....And it's warm enough to hang out the clothes, thank goodness.....

Mary, is there any end to that yard work? I think everything time I go outside, I get into something different...But, I also seem to make the mistake of visiting the garden dept. at Home Depot and always come home with something that has to be planted....I love, love Black Eyed Susans and 4 of them found their way to the trunk on Sat....
Our patient isn't doing as well as we'd like...He's now very, very confused and they keep saying it's from the dialysis and the meds. But, it sure is a worry....It's been a very long 5 months..Seems, he gets over 1 hurdle and then something else hits...But, we do have faith, he will get better!

Mary, we might join you in that burger...I had thought, with the cool temps, I'd put a meat loaf in the oven but might change my mind....I have fresh mushrooms to go with those burgers.....And there might be a peach pie going in the oven...Jim will be happy.....

Happy eating................

Good Evening All.....Grey skies with a nip in the air.......

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:-

I WAS BORN INTELLIGENT......EDUCATION RUINED ME......

We had the Bristol family up here yesterday.......so......Saturday was spent in the company of the vacuum and the feather duster....well....after we had been out for our full English Breakfast of course.....

they didn't want a Sunday Roast.....so it was Bacon Sarnies and Mini Chocolate Rolls..... anyway the visit was lovely.....but....sunday doest feel right without the roast.....so....we had Sunday Roast today.......

Roast Pork....Roast Potatoes....Carrots....Swede.....Peas....and Apple Pie and Custard for afters......

Cindy(DD) has at last got the date for her operation....has been waiting for over a year.....she has fibromyalgia.....and this will be her 3rd shoulder op.....also......Claire (DGD)has been trying to find out what the rash our Willow(DGGD)has is....the 3rd Dr.has said its the reaction of her Immune System to a Strep throat.....its like a "dried up Chicken Pox" rash....she is covered....apparently it happens to some children over the age of 10......Willow is 5.....and to treat her with Chamomile Cream.....so far we have only found it on the Internet.....luckily it doesent seem to bother her.....

Tomorrow is my Aber day.....giving the bus a miss again and going by car with my friends.......
IRISH.....have seen your Chris is back in hospital....do hope he is back on the road to recovery....and it doesn't matter how old they are.....they are still your babies.......
BECCA......and hope that the new baby is getting on fine and soon able to go home......

I am off to have an early night and read in bed......

Well, this is Monday and usually it's "Dinner with the Pringles", but it's our turn to go to Mama's Grill to eat and they have a "live" singer, who strolls around singing (loud), so we go on Tuesday instead.

Tonight I am warming up the leftover chili that we had on Saturday...it was yummy. And there is the peach dump cake left and some lemon cake that Earl's DD made, too for afters.

Nice weather...about 74 today...love early Fall!! (Sorry Irish!)

Joanne
