SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Sept 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 04, 2014 3:50 am

Hello!

Today is my SIL's birthday. He's 46 today. I've known him since he was 9!

Our soup last night was delish! IRISH & CHICKIE, I also put a bottle of beer into stew. An old lady taught me that trick many years ago. Now I'm the old lady!

TINA - you will be given a special dispensation for F.B. since you are doing so well on your diet. Sorry the dental appt didn't go well yesterday. At least she got Nitrous and novacaine. I still shudder from the trauma of my first dental visit. Our dentist refused to use novacaine and I had 8 teeth filled in a 3-hr appt. I saw quietly with tears running down my cheeks. and he just kept drilling. 54 yrs later, I still feel panic just to get my teeth cleaned.

BECCA - congrats on Baby Laurel! Know that was a tense delivery for you all! Glad all are OK. Hope your DH improves soon, too!

By tonite we should be able to get to our freezer (kitchen has furniture in it) and to our BBQ (more furniture in the way). So we have burgers on the grill. If I have oomph left in me, I think I'll make a salad to go with, too. I'd like some jo-jo's, but the burgers always fill us up. Just don't need potatoes on top of that.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning!

MaryZ—I haven’t had jo-jo potatoes in years! I know what you mean about “now I’m the old lady!” I’m right there with you… actually, ahead of you!

I had a nasty dentist when I was little, too. He stuck a big old thumb in my mouth that had some kind of bandage on it, and I bit it… hard! He slapped me. Thankfully, I had better experiences later with all the dentists. I really like my dentist now. I’m hoping he never retires. He’s not much off my age.

I think we will do BLTs tonight with fruit for dessert.

Good early afternoon from sunny, very warm, gorgeous, SW. Pa.....This is real summer weather......

Mary, is this the day? Do we get carpeting today????? And both you and Chickie can forget about being "the old lady", I have you both beat....In fact, I could almost be your mother....

I think years ago, we all had those nasty dentists...I can remember my Mom taking me to one that liked the bottle and so many times, we'd have to leave...I also remember him being mean as well as rough...It did take a long time to get over that experience and thank goodness we have a gentle, super dentist now, who is known for being "painless"...Of course even the assistant knows they have to have the "deadening" stuff ready before I open my mouth, even for a cleaning....And just a bit of warning, anyone with heart problems who needs to be premedicated, please, please make sure you take the RX and if possible, have your MD prescribe a stronger antibiotic...The doctors are now saying, more and more heart patients are developing infections simply because the guidelines have changed and not longer require the stronger regiment of antibiotics....This is what happened with Chris...And he always took the RX but apparently wasn't strong enough....OK, off my band wagon!

And on to dinner....Jim has gone to bingo and I'm running errands so, stew (minus the beer) is cooking in the crock pot....I have a feeling, Jim has his beer counted and I might be in trouble if I used one, lol....One time I used some beer to rinse my hair and he thought that was a terrible waste of good beer.....MEN......

Happy eating.................

Good Morning,Just Home from errands.Has been a trying week.Hate when I feel I get nothing creative done.I have to be busy with my hands.

OK Speaking of Dentist I never had a bad one until a few years ago.I was old enough to speak up & I did.Our good one retired & I have never found one I like since.Just go & bite the bullet.

Let's not speak of old ladies.I am in that catagory too.But thankful for each day.

MARYz Sure happy things are all coming tog. for you.

It will be easy as DH still is not eating much.Have chicken breast leftover. Will add brocolli & cauliflower. And melon.Cookies if anyone wants them.DH has not even been eating sweets so I know he is not good.He never refuses dessert.....Becca

Good Evening All.....nice day again....warmer now than when I had to get up at dreadful O"clock.....twas a bit chilly then.....
had to be my hairdressers VERY early.....she is having a long week-end off.....thank goodness that doesn't happen very often

I have to agree with "no old ladies here" as my 54 year old son has now decided he is only 24....his mother can stay at 30....you do not know how glad that makes me.....the 30 bit I mean......

I know a lot of conversations have been going on about our Aber bus...and the new route....and the new company....just haven't been able to dive in the middle of it yet.....just faint whispers on the breeze.....oooooohhhhh...and its driving me nuts...I really want to know......

Maryz....hope that carpet is down and you three can do the dance of the abandoned

Becca.....you have a new baby....well.....in the family....have those knitting needles been clacking away.....I"m sure they have....we have a new Great grandson on the horizon.....think that will make 16 great-grands......and yes.....I am still only 30......anyway congratulations to you and yours......

todays menu.....Egg and Chips....and Green Salad......Rhubarb and Custard for afters

Hi y'all, I've had all kinds of potatoes, but how do you make "jo-jo potatoes"? Most of my family are of Cajun heritage but my great grandmother was Belgium. She really enjoyed her potatoes! Good night from from south LA
