SJPPER CLUB - Mon, Aug 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Aug 25, 2014 3:59 am

Good Morning! We are really barreling through August, aren't we?? I'm not sure I'm ready for fall, but I think it's here anyway.

CHICKIE - glad Doyal's party was a good one. From your perspective, not running out of food, but not having much leftover it was purrfect! Sorry about your floors, though. My DD#1 requires everyone to "removeth they shoes, please" as her doorway sign says. But I'd have a hard time seeing that fly on a farm!! lol!

BECCA - happy anniversary!!! Happy Levi!!

LADY CAROL - well, I guess you better slow down then so Sir can keep up with you! And you can save face. Figuratively and literally!

IRISH - I think of your Chris often (and I always type and extra 's' on his name and have to remove it. lol!) I hope he gets off the dialysis soon. But if not, many folks live very well around it. Does he go to a renal center for it or is he set up at home to do it himself? Hugs for Mom!!

I found some leftover pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella in the fridge, so I'm thinking this might be a pizza night. I'm going to load it up with veggies, too.

Hope you all find something as simple, quick, and tasty!

Good early afternoon from a warm, sunny, SW. Pa....With our weather, we're still having summer which if fine with me....I mentioned to Kathy, about having her weather this week....

Mary, Almost everyone that comes into our house, takes off their shoes...It's just been something we've always done...Just yesterday, Kathy's DS stopped down and sure enough, his big shoes were left at the door....Chris does go to a renal center, 3 times a week..I was telling him about an article I just read about being able to do it at home but he's still praying not to have to do it at all...Along with really tiring him out, he's having trouble with food...He said, just looking at a bowl of cereal will make him throw up..They've told him this happens to some renal patients...But, he is a survivor and he will handle whatever comes along.....

Becca, Happy Anniversary! And how many times have you given Levi a hug? So happy for you.....

Well, today, I'm in a "fighting" mood and I'm taking on the giant, Walmart....My pocket hose exploded and I tired to return it but because it was a different color, wouldn't take it back so off goes an e-mail...Response, "bring it back and we'll be happy to exchange"...Well, no such luck, girl said she would give me $5.00 on a new one?????My next e-mail will be just a tad more scathing but I will get my hose exchanged!

And now on to dinner...I did get chicken out of the freezer and might bread it with crushed fried onion rings....Along with a salad and some cantaloupe, that might be dinner.....Of course there is a piece or 2 of pumpkin pie that will be afters.....

Happy eating................

Good afternoon! I would definitely go for “sans shoes” in the house, but you are right, MaryZ, “it wouldn’t fly here.” I get a “Sorry,” and muddy footprints or chunks of dried mud. I’m thinking at 69 years old, he’s not going to change. I just keep mops, brooms, vacuum, etc. handy… also a wounded look and loud sighs.

It’s so hot here. I’m feeling justified for griping—94 with a heat index of 98 at 12:30 p.m.! I have a feeling it will be higher than 100 by this afternoon. Everything is crispy brown. I watered my flowers enough to keep them alive. Picked a BUNCH of tomatoes. Guess I’m going to have to make some more salsa or pasta sauce.

I think we’ll have the remaining pizza from last night and a salad along with watermelon. Sure wish I could share watermelons and tomatoes with you all!

Becca—happy anniversary!

Irish—I know it’s a long road for Chris, and he struggles with the twists and turns it takes. That’s interesting about the nausea. We gave up on the pocket hoses—definitely not “as seen on TV”! Good luck with W-M. They are getting really hateful here with returns and coupons. I wish we had more choices of stores.

More laundry ready for hanging outside…

Enjoy your dinner!

Good afternoon,

I try for the no shoes, most pay attention and leave them in the entrance, but sometimes, like the other day, Stu forgot and tracked mud in from the front of the house to the back - ugh - but when we saw it, he went and got out the carpet cleaner and washed the rug. Such a good kid and it helps that he works at the high school as a janitor - oh how he gets upset at the kids that make messes. I think all teen-agers need to work as a janitor! LOL

Becca - Happy Anniversary. What a treat, Levi and dinner!

I saw a new pasta recipe on Barefoot Contessa - tagliatelle noodles with a parm gorgonzola sauce, with fresh peas and basil. Sounds like I will be trying that tonight. I will make homemade pasta, so easy and tastes better too.

My chocolate cake is yummy, but needs a few tweaks - next we will use ladyfingers, dipped in raspberry syrup, then layered with the chocolate cream. Maybe a few fresh raspberries between the layers as well. We will see.

Enjoy,
Jana

I can hardly ever decide what's for supper till I'm actually making it Lol.
Mary, we got a combination of Hatch Green Chile and Diaz Farm Chile here in town. I guess they are mixing them up in the bags? We got medium this year, not much heat but they have a really good flavr:-)
I have a flour free pizza crust so I think I'm gonna make hamburger, green Chile and what ever else jumps on top :-) I haven't had pizza in a very long time it seems.
Tina

Chickie, I sure wish you could share tomatoes too :-) yummy!

Tina--I'd love to have your flour-free pizza crust recipe. I must have picked 15 pounds of tomatoes off my fines today. I made another batch of pasta sauce. My DD used a jar of it for pizza last night and gave it rave reviews. It's the Mrs. Wages' packet. I never know what I'm going to make until I find it on the table, either. I'm not familiar with either of your peppers. I made jalapeno jelly last week. I got it packing a lot of heat; it will be good with cream cheese and crackers. I would trade you peppers for tomatoes!

Tomorrow I'm making apple pie jam. I found the recipe in a Taste of Home Canning magazine from 2012. I think DH and DGS will love it--spreadable apple pie!

Jana--your cake sounds yummy! It went from mocha to raspberry--funny! I've never made homemade pasta--crazy, huh! Do you have a pasta machine or attachment? Or do you roll out by hand? I have all this pasta sauce; I should make pasta to go with it. I'm thinking ravioli--my favorite. I also like tortellini. Heck, I'm like Don Lasorda--all my favorite foods end in vowels... That includes Italian and Mexican for me.
