Hey, where is everyone???? We know "the chief" is camping, again but the rest of us have to eat, right????

We're having a gorgeous day, here in the east...Not real warm but lots of sun....This kind of weather has me wanting to do too much and probably not accomplishing anything, lol....

But,before I mention dinner, have to tell you about my lunch...We, in the east, have and love chipped ham from Isalys..I don't know what makes it different but it has to be from Isalys and those stores are going out of business...But, chipped ham is a special ham that is chipped very fine, not sliced and it is just the best...When anyone moves from Pa. or near by states, they always have a request for you to bring chipped ham when you come to visit...I've been known to take pounds and pounds of this treat (frozen) in my carry on when I fly..As you can see, Pa. people are a little crazy, especially about their chipped ham...So, for lunch, a fresh bun, stacked with chipped ham and a slice of tomato...Now, that's living!

And now dinner...Last night I made chicken ala king and it's always good for a second go round....Put it on toast and it's almost as good as that chipped ham, lol...And of course I broke down and baked those pumpkin pies, 1 for Jim and the other for Dan, Kathy's DS...

So, what tempting foods are you conjuring up??

Happy eating............

Good afternoon!

Dorothy - we have similar things in California - like good sourdough bread from the wharf in SF, Caspar Hot Dogs, and Los Panchos Mole sauce - we are silly! Even my neighbor that is the airline pilot, brings us home the mole sauce - he carries up in the flight deck! LOL

Dinner - tonight is brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad and a chocolate turtle cake - I found the recipe on Pinterest - looks yummy!

Tomorrow is either tacos or pot pot roast - it is DS4's BD on Monday - my baby will be 27! Everyone will be out then too - like I said - it is cooking for 3 or 16! LOL

Enjoy,
Jana

Good evening--late again as usual. We picnicked all day yesterday with family on my late DH's side and also our kids. Ended by going to town and watching the city fireworks. It was kind of a disappointment this time--seemed much smaller than past years.

Tonight's fare... On the stove as I type, I have a pot of fresh-from-DS3's-garden green beans, onions and new Yukon Gold potatoes seasoned with some bacon, salt and pepper. I'll add to that the roast I cooked Wednesday, some sliced tomatoes and lettuce, maybe some buns for sandwiches, and corn-on-the cob. This is SUMMER!

Jana--when I went to CA, I'd bring back salamis and loaves of sourdough bread in my carry on. Everyone who saw it said if we got stranded, we wouldn't go hungry.

Irish--that chipped ham sounds really interesting. Maybe I can look it up and see it. I like pulled pork, shredded beef, and always pick the "crumbs" of meat left after slicing that fall apart (ham, roast beef, turkey, etc.). I like the texture and flavor. Maybe that's how chipped ham got started--a happy accident.

P.S. The images I found for the chipped ham looked like our shaved ham given a fine chop or shred. I could certainly go for that! Pile it high on a sour-dough hoagie roll, mustard... oh, now I AM hungry!
