What are YOU doing for July 4th?

Just thought I'd pose the question!

Our family, including our adult DDs, their spouses and children will grill hotdogs, hamburgers and sausages. Someone asked for potato salad and peach cobbler. We are taking it easy without exceeding the budget, and enjoying each other more. We will watch fireworks from afar and C-H-I-L-L!

All the kids will be here - our city did fireworks a couple of weeks ago - but we can see several cities in the valley from the back deck. Plus everyone in the neighborhood does their own aerial show too. We can't - under fire restrictions.

So during the day, we are building the barn in the backyard - really just a shed that looks like a monitor barn - tall center, two wings on the sides. It will be lots of fun with everyone. DS3 will here from California, he is the architect/rice farmer /fireman, who drew up the barn and will build it with help from all the others after work.

So it is a party for the next two weeks!

I'm Canadian we had our fireworks holiday already.. When I was teenager, we would spend July 1st in Fargo/Grand forks area, bag in a sale, then stay hotel till July 4th when we would return to Canada avoiding busy border crossing. Sometimes my parents would stay till July 4th depending on weather for my parents were mixed farmland just 30min. from border. Think I beached and spent more time in USA on holdays than Canada.. Bemidji, some of our relatives married and moved to USA Minnesota area.

Being here in Canada, they had their fireworks on the 1st for Canada Day. We thought we would fish today, but DH just pulled up weather and there is squall warnings on the lake. It will be in the 70's, so kids can go to the beach. Dinner will be Walleye and wild rice.
