SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, June 26th

As I typed this, I realized my MIL#2's birthday is tomorrow. that means I have one day to get her birthday card to North Carolina! At 92, I probably shouldn't just wait for the next birthday, huh. . . Guess it will be late. But I can send an e-mail to her DD letting her know it's coming.
I was hoping to sew a bit yesterday, but my yard got me instead. All those flowerbeds I worked in April - what a mess they are now! So I did some weeding, deadheading, raking, and 'scratching the dirt' yesterday with more to follow today. We're having a birthday BBQ for my grandson on Sunday and we're trying to make the yard look halfway like it hasn't been totally abandoned.
Supper tonite, I think, will be pasta with slice black olives, sliced turkey kielbasa, and a veggie with onion, garlic, olive oil, parmesan, and basil. All in one dish. My go-to meal. Bill loves this and it's so quick.
What's the word from your kitchen for tonite?

Good morning from warm and partly sunny, partly dreary, Sw. Pa..Our weather hasn't quite decided what it wants to do today...We've sure had enough rain in the last day or so and I'm hoping to get back to sunny......
Mary, These birthdays sneak up on you, don't they? Kathy's is on the 30th and I need to get on the ball...And, I'm with you on the yard work...Our garden is overgrown with weeds but it's been too wet to get in there and work...I was hoping today but still too muddy...So, if not weeding, I might have to go shopping (food) and then to the Library...After being out west and near the Donner Pass, I need to refresh my memory and get the book..Plus I have a list a mile long of authors I want to try.....
As far as dinner, repeat of last night...Hot meat loaf sandwiches, 1 1/2 baked potatoes that I might cut up and fry with onions and a salad...Good last night, better tonight......I should bake something but we'll see...DGS brought back a pie pan and that usually means he's hungry for pumpkin pie....
Happy eating..............

Good Morning Ladies.
Today was errands & groceries & u know what that means.Good ole Subway.
MARY & IRISH I have about killed myself with yard work. Here it is never ending & I do not want to live somewhere & not keep the place neat & tidy.So on I go.
But I did sneak in 2 baby quilt tops & now will quilt them by hand so the sewing does go on.
CAROL I do not know why you have trouble with chevrons.I did 3 baby ones & had no problem.Big ones may be different.Hope they fly together for you.
Have a great day to all....Becca

Not quite evening yet....so how about a Good Late Afternoon then......
today the sun is hiding behind some clouds.....but it is still very warm.....and as I write guess what.....the rain has just arrived....and its either Rolling Thunder in the background or the Helicopters are on another exercise.......
Our Thursday Afternoon Club(we meet every 3rd Thursday) on our last meeting we did a Boat Trip down the River Severn.....the sun was shining.....the Herons were flitting about....probably feeding their babies.....while we cruised majestically by.....and the afternoon tea we were served....aaahhhh......out of this world.....and best of all....NO cooking....NO washing up....just a leisurely coach trip
back home.......
BECCA......these chevrons I am doing are 3 inches....am now doing the scant 1/4 inch which has helped on some of them.....but not all of them....however I will battle on.....and when they make my head hurt too much.....I go to my other ongoing quilt.....which I have a sneaky feeling....will be finished first......
Todays menu.......Lasagne and Garlic Bread......Apple Strudel and Cream for afters
Carol

Well, while I pondered what to have for dinner, Earl came into the living room and right after a commercial for pizza, said, " Let's have that for dinner!"....and so it was!
Spiro, who owns Mama's Grill, also owns Grandma's Pizza on Main Street here in town..the pizza dough is fresh, not frozen, and the sauce is homemade..not canned. It is wonderful! His son, Chris, runs it.
Irish, I'm sure you got our rain yesterday...it's almost daily..hot, humid and late afternoon rain. But it doesn't look like it today. I'm putting together the Winter Block Swap quilt now...slowly! lol!
