Hi, y'all!

BECCA - so sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. I was just sitting down to the computer when my sis showed up and it was go-go-GO from then until bedtime last night. I hope you had a wonderful day with all the family! I'm not too far behind you in age - I'm 63 today.

My Bd is today and I'm getting a white birthday! I had a white birthday eve, too. It's in the 20's but at least not windy. Daffodils are in bud here. Home is usually ahead of here (Colorado) so I imagine mine are all in bloom! and I'll get to see them on Thursday!

For supper tonite we're going to my older sis's house. My BIL is BBQ'g steak and chicken. There is also potato salad and beans and cherry cobbler and leftover ice cream cake from my younger sis's retirement party last night. I have to take an appetizer. I was going to make my sweet onion/blue cheese 'pizza' but go so many "YUCK!"s that I'm back to square one. Guess it will have to be the oldtime favorite chips and dip.

Hope no one yells YUCK! when you put dinner on your table tonite! lol!

p.s. If sweet onions tempt you, I slice 4 sweet onions very thin, bust up the rings and saute them until I'm happy with the 'done-ness'. Then I spread them out on a Boboli pizza crust (or you could make and bake your own) and top generously with blue cheese crumbles and bake for a while - maybe 1/2 hour? Then I cut it up in small appetizer-sized pieces. Sounds odd, but it really is good!

Happy Birthday Mary!

If you want a quick appetizer, try Rothchild Farm Raspberry Chipolte Sauce. You should be able to find it at the grocery store there in Longmont, may be in Deli area. You take a package of cream cheese, soften enough that you can spread it out about 1/4" on a plate. Thinly spread some Sauce on top. Take some crackers for it and your done. There's a little kick to the Sauce, but the cream cheese balances it out.

I'm sure there are other brands, too. A friend down here gave me a bottle of this last year and it was a big hit at happy hours.

I was starting to write that I didn't know what dinner will be, then remembered I BBQ'd extra chicken breasts last night. I will make Oregano Chicken Salad and serve on a bed of lettuce. DH really likes it and it makes us a meal.

MaryZ--your appetizer sounds yummy to me, but it would be YUCK to the rest of the family. Anything with onions and/or bleu cheese is on my radar. Happy birthday to you!!!

I made a roast yesterday, and DH will have that with some sides. I'll have veggie soup that I made yesterday. There is cherry crisp for dessert or chocolate chip cookies.

Lyn--your appetizer sounds delicious, too! I made jalapeno jelly with cream cheese and crackers. When DS3 tasted it, he started making jalapeno jelly. Now he can be counted on to show up with the jelly, cream cheese and crackers at any function.

Becca--what a neat birthday! I'm with you on the **** and the ****! Yum!

Good afternoon,

I have no idea for dinner -home fom church and just put a batch of cranberry muffins in the oven for me.

We can get a jam - pepper peach - we add cream cheese to it and serve it with crackers. Everyone loves it. We just add a package cream cheese, that is soft and then add the jam and blend it together.

Anything with onions and bleu cheese has to be good!

Enjoy,
Jana
