Supper Club, Feb. 4th, Tuesday......

Post by Irishgram » Tue Feb 04, 2014 6:19 am

Another wintery day from the tundra! At least it's not snowing, that's to come tonight...Just can't wait, NOT!

BUT, this morning I looked out my back door and we had 4, yes 4 bright, red breasted robins jumping in the snow....Jim had been out and swept a path to the shed and they were having the best time.....Even with all the snow, that really did make me feel good.

And onto dinner...Once again, something simple, just for the simple reason, my oven isn't working...Didn't know until I was ready to bake the zucchini bread and no heat! Thank goodness for the toaster oven...Probably have Jim's buddy, Ted, look at it but I'm hoping for a new stove....So, today might be (hope Mary isn't listening), "tiny mac n cheese" in alfredo sauce with linguini...But, if Jim goes out this afternoon, he just might bring home dinner, one of the good advantages of a non working oven......

Hope the "oven sickness" hasn't hit your kitchen but just in case, have that list of take outs on hand.....

Happy eating............

Good morning!

Dorothy - I wish that the oven sickness would strike here - I am getting a new stove when we redo the kitchen - something this spring and I miss the one that I had in California - it was a Jenn-Air with the indoor grill - gas cooktop and a convection electric oven - oh how I loved that stove! So if mine breaks here - it is all of two years old - the kitchen project will get started faster. This new one burns everything that you put in the oven - I have to cut the time in half and watch it like a hawk! I live tiny mac and cheese in alfredo!

Tonight we are having sliced chicken in alfredo with fresh linguini noodles. I had leftover chicken, so that makes it easy for me!

Enjoy!

Ice is coming here tonight...Irish, I hope you just get the snow and not the ice! Worse thing about ice on power lines and limbs falling on lines...no electric. I'd rather have the snow!

Tonight is pork tenderloin, gravy, salad, mashed potatoes and peas and carrots. I got my two new stoves right before Thanksgiving, so I'm set for years..

IRISH - as it happens, I did check in! Talk about the mice playing while the cat-person is away! But the robin story almost makes up for your lapse in the rules.

JOANNE - you got TWO stoves? Wasn't that a bit piggy of you? You should share with Irish.

JANA - I hear you about hating your stove. I hated mine for 16 yrs. Every time something happened to it, Bill would FIX it! So turns out there IS a downside to having a DH who can repair anything!

Tonite we are going to grill some chicken breasts outside. The linguini sounds good so we may have that - though I've got potatoes malingering in my pantry so maybe I should have those instead. And we have salad.

The wild burros were close by our rig today. There are four of them that wander around through all the RV's out here on the desert. So sweet and gentle - unless a dog gets close. Then they are all flashing hooves and gnashing teeth!
