SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Jan 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:25 am

I pulled the container of soup out of the freezer to thaw yesterday and when it warmed enough to melt the ice crystals, I saw it was leftover cranberry chicken and rice. I also had a baggie of frozen sauce that went with it. So that was a surprise for our supper!

Tonite, we're invited to friends for supper along with a third couple. I will be making an appetizer to take. Stuff a date with a pecan and wrap with bacon. Bake until the bacon is done. I've never made them but happen to have all the ingredients, so will give them a try.

What are you all trying for supper tonite?

Good afternoon from a very sunny, but still cold, SW. Pa...We are also having a heat wave today before the bottom drops out again....

Mary, you never cease to amaze us with your dinners, just one surprise after the other.....I have yet to find a good surprise in my freezer....

After yesterday, I've just about given up on using the stove or better yet, cooking all together....I was in the midst of making banana nut bread, talking to my DIL in N.C. and I turned on the oven...I keep my cast iron skillets in the oven and always check when I turn it on but since they were on top, I didn't check....BAD ME! I had stored my left over cookies in Tupperware containers...By the time, I smelled it, the bottom of 1 big one had melted down onto the oven bottom and what a mess.....But, with the help of Jim, we now have a very clean oven...We did laugh about it later...And it also brought back good memories....Years ago, Jim's Mom had done the same thing and then she took the melted plastic with the melted chocolate cookies still in it, sat it on the porch and asked if anyone knew what it was....It looked like a piece of art, really, really pretty but no one guessed it was an accident.....Mine wasn't pretty, just messy.......Lesson learned, no more cooking.....
And for dinner, we're having pizza, delivered............

Happy eating.............

Good Morning Everyone!
Last night's dinner was pizza delivery. I made a salad to go with it. I just talked DH into dinner out tonight. Sounds good! I think I will quilt today!
