SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Jan 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jan 03, 2014 4:27 am

Good Morning!

JOANNE - so sorry you haven't been feeling well. Do you take the same meds that Carole takes? I know her infusions really seem to help her a lot. Insurance coverage for them is her big issue, though.

IRISH - sorry you have the post-Christmas drearies at your house. I have a friend who saves all her snowmen and puts them out in January instead of using them at Christmas. Gives a nice festive, wintry look to her home.

JANA - My Valentine and St. Patrick's decorations all fit into two shoeboxes! I do have an entire banker's box for Easter/spring. And a full tote of "Americana" things. One tote for fall/Halloween/TG, too. Guess I'm only into decorating big time for Christmas.

BECCA - I hope you have more fun in your day today!

CA. CAROL - we still have your brine recipe! DH loves it and when we travel, which is when he does his Dutch Oven cooking, makes sure we have all the ingredients on board. Think of you every time we use it!

UK CAROL - Your Sir is having quite a time of it, isn't he? and by extension, so are you! Hope you find those tea lights soon. Would ordinary candle stubs do until you can find more? Sorry about another storm. Your weather has even made our news!

Whew! Guess I'm chatty this morning! I'm probably stalling, hoping some amazing menu ideas will pop into my head before I get to this point. But didn't happen. Maybe hamburgers and salad. I don't have buns, but bread works in a pinch, and I have a lot of bread to use up. Though there's a container of what I think is chicken soup in the freezer that I ought to investigate, too. So I should be able to find something from those two things!

Bon Appetit`

Good morning - quick stop by here - I am busy as a cat on a hot tin roof today!

Dinner is all of the family - got postponed from the other day - so tonight is the mass BD party for all whose BD's fall in January - Stu, Ethan, Emma and Daniel. The girls are making cupcakes for the BD's - Sarah is making Elmo for Ethan and I don't know what Crenda is doing - we are also buying a ice cream cake for Stu and Daniel. I am making lasagna, salad and cheesy garlic bread - the spaghetti sauce morphed into the lasagna - easier that way!

Need to scoot -
Enjoy
Jana

Jana - The Lasagna sounds delicious!! Happy Birthday Everyone!

Becca - Enjoy the regional chicken pie. It sounds wonderful.

Mary - Glad I was able to share the brine recipe. It sure does improve the pork. I use one for Turkey too. Our Christmas Turkey breast was wonderful and the good news is: we have some in the freezer for later.

I was reading Cook's Illustrated and the newer issue has a recipe for sandwich bread made in 90 minutes. I really want to try it. It is a batter bread modified by the Test Kitchen.

I am not sure about dinner tonight. DH is picking up his car at 11:00 today. (He had an accident. He is fine, but the car has been in the shop 2 weeks.) My Mom, 96, is in the hospital and I would like to go see her. She is going to need to be placed in a nursing home, because she has a compression fracture in her back. She doesn't want to go to a nursing home, but doesn't want to wear a back brace either. Say a prayer if you have a chance.

Good afternoon from sunny, but bitter cold, SW. Pa....I think it might be Joanne's fault, she sent all this snow our way, lol....

And speaking of Joanne, sure hope you get some relief from the RA...And I can imagine, this cold isn't helping...I honestly think, you and Earl should go south...But, then why in the heck am I still sitting up here in the cold, right????

Mary, I like that idea of the snowmen...Today as I was decluttering, I found a bunch of pansies and stuck them in a bowl for the dining room table...Now if I could just do something with the rest of the house, lol...Oh well, spring is on the way.......

Jana, I'd love to be at your house tonight...Lasagna and ice cream cake, be still my heart....As I've said, it's good to be you.....

Becca, chicken pot pie is special any time, one of our favorites...But, I've never heard of one without veggies....

CA.Carole, boy, you've had a lot happening at your house...Glad DH is ok...It's never easy to place someone in a home and for sure, will keep your DM in my prayers.....

UKCarol, you also have had your hands full....Sure home Sir gets to feeling better quickly and your nasty weather goes somewhere else (just not over here, we have our own problems)....

And as Mary, I'm stalling....There's nothing in my freezer that I can just thaw out and eat, everything has to be made...I wonder how Jim feels about breakfast food..........Unless the cooking fairy drops in, it will probably be waffles............

Happy eating.............
