SUPPER CLUB - Thur, Nov 7th
Rain, Rain, go away,
come again another day!
I heard a big crack outside in the dark just now. We keep waiting for the neighbor's giant, rotting maple tree to fall over our house - right where I'm sitting in the living room! I thought this was it and was thinking - where can I run?? But it was something else that we'll see come daylight. Between the weight of the moss and the killer ivy on the tree, the added weight of the rain will make a rotten maple fall, even without wind. The neighbor refuses to even discuss it with us, we can't do anything ourselves (legally), the city says they can't do anything, the arborist says it WILL fall and it WILL fall on us, and our insurance company 'is looking into it' to see who will be responsible for our crushing deaths. Anybody here a lawyer??
The split pea soup was good last night (sorry, Becca, close your eyes!) so we're going to do a repeat tonite. I'm so happy to be married to someone who loves leftovers!
So, what's the story on your menu for tonite?
come again another day!

Wow MARYZ surprised to see you so early.Must be watching the tree. What a mess to be in.Maybe you need to be careful what part of the house you go in when it is windy.Hope it doesn,t fall
We too have light rain.Lots of leaves coming down.Supposed to get cold.
Well I am moving slow this morn. But I do know what will be on the dinner table.Black beans over bed of rice with chopped spring onions.Yum.And the carrot cake.......Becca
Have some uglies & then sew.

Good Morning!
The utility company trimmed our two front trees. The trees are trimmed only on top to keep them from touching power/telephone wires. DH and I were both at work so we came home to shavings in the street. They left a mess that needs to be cleaned up. Maybe after yoga.
Maryz- My DH doesn't mind leftovers either.
Becca - Wish we had rain! Guess Maryz needs to send it to us.
Tonight we will be having leftover chicken, potatoes. I will make a fresh salad and cook vegetables. Frozen chocolate yogurt for dessert. (I hate yogurt, but eat frozen chocolate.)
Have a great day!
Carol

Good afternoon from semi dreary, sometimes rainy, sometimes sunny, but chilly, SW. Pa....See, here, we get a mixture of weather?
Mary, that's terrible! Here we just worry about all the leaves that fall from the neighbor's tree, not the tree...Jim spent 2 days raking and so far we have yet to see the neighbor make an appearance...And what's worse, they have 2 boys that should be out there instead of Jim....Their steps are so deep with leaves, sometimes they have to walk through the yard....Grrrr..But, all in all, they are nice people....
When you make your pea soup, do you have ham in it...I just saw a recipe and it looked so good....Not sure if I dare make it for Jim, lol...And, I'm also very, very lucky to have a hubby that eats (and eats) left overs.....
The swiss steak didn't happen last night...I ended up bringing home "fast food" and I'm not going to say what it was....So tonight is the steak and fixins...I also cut up a chicken and have part of it cooking for soup (for another day) and the breasts are in the freezer for stuffing...Jim just shakes his head when I start welding that knife....I'm also thinking of making an apple pie, which should make someone happy.....
Happy eating...............

Good afternoon -
Mary - is there the possibility that you could take the arborist report to the city and report it as a hazzard? They may listen and in California - you could trim back any part of the tree that was hanging over the property line just as long as you didn't cut down the tree. Good luck - sleep in another part of the house on windy nights!
Dorothy - our weather sounds like yours, can't make up it's mind what to do - we may even have a heat wave - up to 65 tomorrow, as I am looking at snow on the mountains and the ski resorts are opening up this week-end!
Well - dinner - last night was very good - I browned the pork chops on the top of the stove and finished them in the oven - juicy and tender - I have seen it done that way many times, but never tried it until last night - will do it again with any thick cut of meat.
Dinner tonight - I need my fix of Popeye's chicken - never got it last week - so tonight is the night!
Enjoy!
Jana

All your dinners always sound wonderful.
Ours tonight will be homemade pizza and a salad. Not sure what all we are putting on it yet, or which DG will want what, but we are giving it a whirl! And I can put them all to work chopping. It is their new favorite thing to do. We will see how long that lasts!!
