FLYING GEESE MEASUREMENTS?
Hi all -
Marcia was having trouble with her Flying Geese working using El's method and she used the Pioneer Book instructions.
I don't know what the size she is trying to make though so I am asking that...
While I wait for QIAD to send me the directions I have misplaced for my Flying Geese Rulers I am wondering if anyone has made up a Cheat-Sheet with all the measurements written down.
These are the ones I have:
to make this size: Cut the sm (Middle) sq - Cut the lrg (Corners) sq
3/4 x 1 1/2:
1 x 2:
1 1/4 x 2 1/2:
1 1/2 x 3: 4 1/2 - 6
2 x 4: 5 1/2 - 7
2 1/2 x 5: 6 1/2 - 8
3 x 6: 7 1/2 - 9
3 1/2 x 6 1/2 (Pioneer Book): 7.25 ? - 8.5 ?
4 x 8: 9 1/2 - 11
5 x 10:
The measurement with the "?" comes from the Pioneer Book but it doesn't make sense to me because when you look at the numbers they go up with each size but this one goes down. Is it a misprint?
Thanks for your help.

The Flying Geese instructions are under the "free patterns" listed on this site. Click on the free patterns button, which is on the second row listed above. Between sign out and shopping cart! There are other instructions for El's rulers listed also. Hope this helps.

Re: FLYING GEESE MEASUREMENTS?
Here's the 'trick' to El's method--geese are twice as wide as they are tall. Whatever the largest finished size is (width), add 1 1/2"--this is the smaller square, then add another 1 1/2" for larger square--so for a finished 3" X 6" you have a 7 1/2" square and a 9" square. The smaller square is the 'geese' and the larger square makes the 'sky' or star points (depending on what block you're making!) You always add 1 1/2" twice, no matter what size geese you're making!

I used the Pioneer book, and it did indedd (on p. 26) have the dimensions for the squares as 1.25, and 8.5... I''''d written in 7.5 and 9. 7.5 and 9 works.
