Enlarging a dress form

I was given a dress form but I need to enlarge it to fit my measurements. Any ideas how I should do this. The bust, waist and hips are all small so it will have to be the whole dress form that needs to be enlarged. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Beverly

Most dress forms that I have seen have adjustments inside. like wingnuts and screws to adjust the size.

If the wingnuts are unscrewed all the way and it is still too small what I would do is pad it with old batting and tape the batting on continuing this until it was the correct measurements. Probably someone else has a better idea......that is all I could come up with!

But if that still isn't big enough, maybe you could pin on some padding. Stuff some knit material pillows in appropriate shapes.
Dress forms seem to come in about 3 sizes that I have seen.

There are some Utube videos on how to make a dress form where a friend wraps you with duct tape and you get a nearly exact double of yourself. You might be able to mount that over the old form on the stand.

This dress form is a foam model with a cloth over it. I put one of my bras on it and then added some batting inside the bra and then wrapped extra batting around the waist to fit my waist size and now it is a perfect size. I have named her "Sadie". I can't wait to start sewing some dresses and skirts and fitting it on Sadie instead of trying to fit it on me.

What a neat idea you found, Beverly, seems that is just what you needed to make it your own size. Good job!

Beverly--that's what I did when making bridesmaids' dresses for my daughter's wedding. All the girls were different sizes, and I had various sets of padding that I used for fitting each of them.
These are all great ideas. Hope you get yours to just your size! I am sorry I sold mine at a yard sale years ago. I'd love to have it in a corner with a vintage dress on it.
