Becca, prayers sent your way.
Irish, thank you, you're always in my thoughts and prayers too.
I didn't get the brownies made, no pecans, so when Frankie gets home he's going to be shelling some.....we probably have 100 pounds in the freezers but they all need shelled....

I have always known that Odie isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but today he proved he doesn’t have the sense God gave a rubber duck! He is so slow he has no concept of the word “NO!” yelled at the top of my lungs let alone consider obeying. The hooligans and I were walking down to Ava’s when I saw the rural delivery postman approaching in his truck. We walk on a dead end road with little to no traffic, so they aren’t on leashes. Like a good mama hen, I got all the Hooligans close to me. Then all heck broke loose as Tinker Bell decided to chase the truck. She has half a brain—not enough to behave when I scream “NO!” but enough sense to chase at the side of the truck. Before I realized what was happening, Odie was full tilt at the truck… the CENTER of the truck!!! His little life passed in front of me in a split second as he went “thunk!” and rolled under the truck. Thankfully, he didn’t hit any wheels, the driver saw what was happening and slowed, and I watched helpless… The little goomer rolled hiney over head and came out not too much worse for the wear. Apparently he got a little scratch around his ear as I saw a little blood, but he trotted on down to Ava’s. I’ve decided to wait until after I’m sure the mail has run before venturing out for our walk. I hope the altercation with the big truck knocked some sense in his little pointed head, because there sure was nothing in there to lose!
Mary—I feel your friend’s pain! Most of the time I hobble around with my plantar fasciitis. It’s killer painful! I have taken your advice and used an ice pack for some relief, and I have the hobnail bone on my list for town. I’m sure hoping it works!!! Did you tell Esther what Nurse Mary said to do?
Becca—so sorry to hear your DB’s diagnosis! Best wishes to him for a successful treatment!
Irish—I’m sure you needed the rest yesterday—still recuperating from all that birthday partying!!! I know what you mean about the human kids not getting away with being picky and eating too many treats! I think I spend more on food and treats for the Hooligans than for us! That Capstar sounds like something DH got for Spike one time at the vet (before we were married). It was a one time thing, and the fleas literally just fell off. The Bravecto is still working… At least it should get them through the major flea season.
I cut the meat into cubes and have them marinating. I might also make some peppers and onions to go with them and the fried rice (vegetables in the rice!).
Mary—your day’s plans really changed! I know those walkers with the wheels are somewhat dangerous if you don’t have a quick reaction with the brakes. Mom has just a regular walker… much safer. It’s sad that it comes to having to use assistance. Mom really was unhappy when she had to start using the walker and planned to ditch it as soon as possible, but she is still using it and not minding so much now. She definitely doesn’t want to fall again! My sister got a tray for it, and I made her a walker bag, so she is pretty happy. She can carry her sewing on the tray and her phone in the pocket. I think she has mastered it to carry her coffee cup, too. She has some of the little silicone lids/cup covers to keep it from spilling.
Tina—I really like the pattern of the quilt, but I just can’t quilt like that. I’m doing mostly straight lines, but I’m quite happy with the outcome.
I have my rice cooking. Hopefully I can get it cooled to do the fried rice… otherwise, it might just be rice and vegetables with the scrambled egg and seasonings… not bad.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Aug 18th
Hi Everyone!
This is a very chatty bunch today!! It is a beautiful day ere today, sunny, breezy and not to warm.
Maryz - Wow, did you ever have a change of plans. Glad to hear Bill liked the Butterscotch Brownies. He just needed a homemade cookie! Sorry your DB isn't feeling so well nor is your friend, Ester.
Chickie - That was quite an adventure for Odie. So glad nothing major happened. My Mom resisted using her walker and had to be taught how to use it correctly, but she still fell. We said it was her own fault. Pecans in the Butterscotch Bars really would be great.
Tina - I stayed up late last week to watch Olympics, but not so much this week. You are such a good daughter to take such good care of your Mom and Dad.
Irish - It is okay to take a day off! Did you get some help cleaning the basement? No wonder you were tired!
Becca - I like chocolate, but there are other flavors that I prefer, such as butterscotch. If you wanted to you could certainly add butterscotch chips or even chocolate chips, but I think you should try them as the recipe is stated. Prayers for your DB.
Tonight's dinner will be Parmesan Chicken, Potatoes, Broccoli and some salad. It is one of DH's favorites.
Thanks for all the nice things you say about my cooking and recipes. It makes my day!
Carol
