SUPPER CLUB - Christmas Eve!!

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Dec 24, 2023 6:21 am

Good morning!

We are a rainy rainy bunch here! It's been raining since 4:30 yeasterday afternoon and will keep it up until around noon today. The good news is temps are balmy and should top out about 72*. At least it's not windy so we can have our door open and our awning out to keep our doorway dry.

Yesterday we cleaned, packed up a bunch of stuff we'll not be using again while here, and I made soup and choc chip cookies. Bill watched his favorite annual Christmas movie - Diehard - while I puttered around, read, and finished a jigsaw puzzle. I''m not much into Bill's movies, but I do love a good Bruce Willis flick. And in a trailer I can do a lot of different things and still watch a movie.

TINA - did you get all your baking done? When is all the family coming - tonite or tomorrow? And who all will be coming?

BECCA - I remember now that Frankie was born on my niece, Lisa's, birthday. I'll try to remember that. Amara was born 10 days later. And she is indeed like a little doll - Sometimes a Betsy Wetsy, sometimes a Chatty Cathy, and sometimes a Tiny Tears. lol!

LORI - at home I always walk, too, even if it's really cold. But I don't walk in HARD rain or in wind. With all our tall trees full of widow-makers, being out in wind is dangerous. And I do hear you about wet dog! We always come in through the garage and keep a big dog towel handy, but it doesn't do the job completely. At least we only have one dog and he's half the size of yours, so we can deal with him.

CAROL - there's a whole lotta bakin' goin' on!! I know all your neighbors are happy about that! I am making a breakfast casserole for tomorrow, too. But I'll put mine in the crockpot tomorrow morning about 6am and it will be ready for brunch about noon or 1pm. Hashbrowns, eggs, onions, peppers, cheeses. We'll cook bacon on the side because the A's are vegetarians. Though I have seen Autumn sneak a piece of bacon occasionally.

We are going to Aut's about noon for presents and a feast that will be Italian something. Lara sent it and it's been in Autumn's freezer since it arrived. I don't know what it is but I'm taking a salad, a fruit plate, mixed nuts, and a plate of cookies. I saw a small ready-made lasagna in Aut's fridge but it was barely big enough to feed Antonio. I don't know if that's what Lara sent or something Aut already had on hand. But since there are 3 pkg's of my homemade pasta sauce in her freezer, I'm tossing in a package of spaghetti noodles "just in case". I'm hoping the dinner Lara sent is still in the freezer and is big enough for all of us.

Anyway, we're going Italian tonite.

Is your big fast tonite or tomorrow?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, I laughed when you described all the dolls that Amara can be, to funny.
We had rain so hard day before yesterday and yesterday morning that some places looked like huge lakes. It was much needed and much appreciated. Here at our house we got a full 1" in the rain Gauge.
Becca, here I can only walk in cool weather which gets me out of the habit sadly. I need to try and do better though. Our summer temps aren't outside friendly for man nor beast.
Carol, I love having helpers but my kitchen is very small, the floor space is only 4 feet from the sink part and turn around and there is the countertop where we do all the shenanigans and it's only about 6' x 3' it gets kinda cramped.
Lori, we had very wet dogs yesterday morning, they weren't happy to be let out in the rain LOL but when the kids got here they plopped on laps and didn't want to move.
We're having homemade pizza for supper here.
Well it's time for me to get busy.
Happy Christmas Eve to you all and if I don't make it on tomorrow I'm hoping you all have a Very Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Turkey Breast is in the oven and the table is set. I will need to get Salad, Mashed Potato and Vegetable ready. The dinner rolls need to thaw and the cranberry sauce put on the table.

We went to Mass this morning and will attend "Midnight" Mass tonight. Choir begins at 10:15 PM and Mass begins at 11:00 PM. We will take a nap before we go after dinner.

We dusted and swept the house so everything looks really nice. I am sewing this afternoon.

Tina - With a small kitchen and two people it must take a lot of organization. I used three cookie sheets - one in oven, one cooling and one with frozen dough waiting. Then I had three cookie racks to cool cookies until they were cool enough to be placed on the waiting plates in dining room. I got done in about four hours, including the clean-up. We had almost three inches of rain this past week. It was amazing downpours on Thursday night/Friday morning.

Becca - I don't walk outside in the wind either because of allergies especially in Spring and Summer.

Lori - I need to take a walk today, bet you have been with the dogs.

Maryz - I am looking forward to seeing Amara riding her rocking horse. My grandnephew loved his on his birthday. We got big smiles!

Hope everyone is enjoying family time and having a Merry Christmas!
Carol
