SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Nov 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:48 am

Good morning,

I didn't sleep much last night but woke up right on time - 0500. I'll be asleep in my recliner earlier than usual tonite! It's 67* this morning and should go to 76* but cloudy with drizzle until about 0900. That's OK. I like curly hair and that's what I'll have after our morning walk. Curlier than usual. This is my sister's last day here. They leave for FL tomorrow morning to stay for 2 months on their friends' property. I'll be stitching away the day, hopefully outside after it dries out so I can hang with Al & Tina. I'm getting close to finishing the stocking. I can't believe I did it! Whew! My hands won't know what to do with themselves after this marathon of cross-stitching.

LORI - Did you like your soup? I went to the link to check it out. Do you like it mild or spicy? I saw it called for a can of tomatoes, too. You could always use Rotel to spice it up even more. I didn't realize your son was moving to Jasper, TX. Did I? I probably forgot. I know what it feels like to hear your offspring are moving across the country. But it gives you a new place to visit. Have you Googled Jasper? It's in East Texas, a town of about 7,000 people. Some of east TX is very pretty with tall pine forests. And parts of it are more like LA, with bayous and heavy humidity. What caused him to decide to move to TX? I know cost of living is MUCH less than CA which is part of what drew Autumn here.

BECCA - I hope both appointments weren't/aren't a big deal, though I have to admit, anytime they are messing around in my mouth, it's a big deal to me!! Hope your angora yarn arrives soon. Now that you are underway, I'm sure you're anxious to get in some stitches. I bet those pork chops are tender but if you don't like the gravy, then they wouldn't be very enjoyable. I'd stick with the omelette. That sounded tasty! Thanks for the tip on freezing the apples. I'm going to try it when we get home. I have a very small freezer in the trailer. I know Chickie makes a ton of apple pie filling and then cans it. And she also makes and freezes pie crusts so she's ready to go whenever she needs a quick dessert. That's not practical in a trailer either!

TINA - I wish my kids lived close enough to pop in all the time, but that's not how life has gone in our family. The two grandsons are 1 hr north and 20 min east of us. And work totally opposite hours of each other. You are very blessed! So which quilt do you have on the quilting frame right now? #2? #3? You still have 5 weeks to go.

Last night our supper morphed into frozen quiche, 3 bean salad, and a green salad. For tonite, Bill loves Whataburger. And I have to admit, even though we RARELY eat fast food, it's a cut above all the other fast food chains. So tonite for our last meal together, Al & Tina are going to pick up Whataburgers and bring the back to camp. But I will be ordering a chicken jalapeno burger and the others will be ordering hamburgers, I think.

What will be going on your plate tonite?

Good morning all 🌞
Wow, I was tired! I slept 8½ hours without even getting up to potty! I think I slept for Mary too!
Mary, I'm so glad you're rounding the corner on the stocking, I'm really looking forward to seeing it! I bet it's beautiful!
I'm very blessed to have my kids and grands so close. I see Holly and the kids at least a couple times a week, sometimes daily, I love it! I feel that's my purpose in life. Kevin, Maria and the boys we see monthly but I wish it was more, I miss them something awful.
You could always take turns throughout the year visiting your grandsons individually on their own days off then still have your annual joint get togethers.
Lori, with all the ingredients in that soup I bet it needs a huge pot! It did sound good though. I'm curious too why your son is moving to Texas.
Becca, I keep picturing washing the gravy off the pork chops 😂🤣 I don't know why 😂🤣
I only have quilt #1 on the quilter, it's been loaded for awhile but I needed Frankie's help to get the batting which he did yesterday, it's about halfway or more done. I'm hoping to finish it today along with another top 🤞
It was cool in the house, 63°....I forgot to turn the furnace back to heat after I used the AC the other day but it's already getting warm with the pellet stove on.
I'm thinking I'll be making the chicken tortellini soup tonight.

Good Evening,

DH and I have been invited to one of my friends for Thanksgiving dinner. I was asked to bring dinner rolls. To bribe my DH into going I will also bring a Pecan Pie. He is going to have a great time because he knows the hosts too, he just said he did not want to "dress up"! He is going to get to talk about cars, planes and engineering. I will get to talk quilting. A big win for both of us.

DH went to an FAA safety meeting tonight so dinner for me was soup.

Mary, the soup was delicious. Not spicy. Just a hearty soup with lots of veggies. Jasper is a small town. He bought 3 acres with a house for 30k. It needs work, and he wants a good project. He said if he likes it he'll stay, if he doesn't he'll rent or sell. He's looking for a quiet place.

Tina, Jonathan went for the space and quiet. Hopefully he'll get both. Wow...8 1/2 hours of wonderful sleep. Good for you.

Becca. good thing the dentist was able to fix the filling.

It was 76 today and supposed to get up to 81 tomorrow. Not very fall like, but should return to low 70's by Thursday. I took care of my dad's groceries, laundry, and bedding. I also took him to get a shave. That was pretty much my day. I did start stitching my tea towel. Might work on that tonight or knit.

Dinner was cereal. I didn't feel like cooking.

Sleep well.

Lori 8-)
