SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Oct 9

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Oct 09, 2023 6:43 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was all about the food. From grocery shopping in the morning to pushing the Start button on the dishwasher before bedtime. I ended up making two pies - maple pumpkin and sour cream apple. And realized, after we got back from the grocery store and started my pie crusts, that I had exactly two cups of flour in the house and not a speck more. I did find some rather elderly whole wheat flour in the back of the pantry so I used that plus a little sugar mixed in to roll out my pie dough. Everyone seemed to enjoy the campfire during happy hour and the meal. They all left by 8pm. I sent pie home with both couples. And we have enough leftovers for another two nights! Maybe I'll just freeze some . . .

Today I play to finish my narwhal block and sew it into a cushion cover. This week I'll be cleaning my room and kitting up more quilts for winter sewing. And Mary Q just showed me Eliz Hartman's new pattern that I don't think is out quite yet - Cats in Pajamas. It looks so cute! I'm going to have to have that one for sure!

CAROL - I'm pleased to hear your Nativity was such a hit! Gives me high hopes for mine. I think it was a good idea to present it with just the main characters.

TINA - I'm so sorry for all the vehicle problems you went though! Did they get it home OK? Is it at your house and Frankie will work on it or did you have it towed to a mechanic, dealer, or ?? I hope it's simple and not terribly expensive to fix. How is Mary Rose? I haven't heard from her in about a year. How is her son doing?

BECCA - Ooooh, a trip on the Parkway will be so nice. My memories of it (in 2002) are of a place that imparts soothing tranquiltiy. Just what you and your friend can use. I'm sorry for the loss of her DH - and yours, too. Where did Marty and Estel cruise?

Tonite we're eating leftovers - teriyaki chicken, seashell pasta and mushrooms in white sauce, brussels sprouts, salad, and rolls. And pie. Oh yes, definetly going to have to freeze some of this! I'm full all over again just listing the menu!

So what's on your menu tonite?

Good Morning,

Today DH is prepping for colonoscopy tomorrow morning. UGG!! I made him Jello last night and he has apple juice.

I am doing some laundry this morning, I have a doctors appointment this morning and then will be continuing to work on house cleaning and quilting.

Yesterday afternoon I went for a walk. I saw a sign that said "Lost Cat". Usually, I do not read these signs because I pretty well know a coyote has gotten it. The sign said it had been missing since August 28th. Well, I did look, the cat was on our back step with DH brushing him when I left the house. I got home fairly quickly and showed DH the picture I had taken. The person only left their email address, but DH sent a picture of the cat and a note. We have yet to hear back.

Maryz - Glad the party went well and you have lots of leftovers. It will give you time to finish the Narwhale and cut things up for kits.

Becca - Sounds like you will be enjoying the drive this week and next! It sounds like an awesome drive.

I will be having a bowl of Vegetable Soup for supper.

Carol

Good morning all
Mary, I love the narwhal pattern 😍
I wonder what the new pattern will look like, I'm betting super cute.
They did get the suburban home at 7:30 last night, it was a 12 hour day for Frankie and Kevin. It's a 1996 and we night it in 2001 and in 2012 we had to replace the engine because it blew. We had replaced it with a used engine that had 134k miles on it....I think it has about 200k in it now but the actual suburban has almost 300k on it. Frankie will fix it if it's fixable. Used vehicle prices are way beyond anything we can afford.... we've never had a new vehicle.
Maryrose is doing OK except her son had a heart attack Friday and they are doing a triple bypass this morning, he's only 46. Prayers would be appreciated.
Becca, maybe you could set your plans in a windowsill through the winter?
Well I'm off to the chiropractor. We have Jazmyne, Easton and Preston today because it's an in-service day, teachers go but kids don't.
I'm hoping supper will be cooked by anyone but me at the moment.
Tina

Tina, glad you got the vehicle home. Sounds like a long day to do it. Hopefully it's fixable.

Becca, I bet the parkway was lovely. Glad you got to get out and about.

Carol, what luck to actually find the cat that long after it's gone missing. Hope the owners get back to you.

Mary, you were quite the busy bee yesterday. Sounds like everything came out well and you had a good time.

I spent yesterday at a class with Jennifer Sampou. She creates gorgeous Ombre fabrics. The class was to make a 2 sided table runner. I got one side done. I left a little early to go to the kids house. Our neice was visiting with her son for the day. Spent a few hour there and came home. I was tired.

Today I got my dad's groceries. I came home and made some raspberry sauce, and black berry sauce. I bought berries and didn't use them all. I hate for them to go to waste. I'll use the sauce on pancakes or waffles.

Dinner will be Teriyaki chicken, rice, and broccoli.

Have a lovely day.
