SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Oct 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Oct 03, 2023 2:26 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a mish-mash of various things. Bill finished quilting Lemur so now I have two quilts to bind. I cut what I could of Unicorn and sewed some of the pieces together. Still waiting on jelly rolls to arrive (Thursday) so I can do the manes. Today I'm taking my elderly friends out to lunch. One lives in Gig Harbor and one lives in Tacoma. Going to try a new Italian restaurant in Tacoma. They are 86 and 94 and need assistance getting in/out of the car and sometimes even into the restaurant. Some places have such heavy doors. Today's restaurant choice doesn't have a parking lot so it's a matter of blocking traffic while I run around the car, get them out and into the restaurant and leave them with the hostess while I run back to the car and go find street parking. When we leave I reverse the process and then take everyone home. It's a long afternoon for the small amount of time I get to spend with them. But they love getting out and I love them. I've known Norie since 1968 (I was 17) and I met Esther in 1989. And it was years before I realized that they've known each other since about 1955! We have history.

CAROL - you have a lot going on in your sewing room! That Nativity set is a cutie, isn't it. Bill is legally blind in his R eye. They can't fix that but dr says removing the cataracts will help the little that he can see. When he covers his L eye, he can see a person sitting 6 feet from him, but he can't recognise the person. He can usually tell male/female. So they will do the bad eye first. I really want him to wait until we come home in Feb but you may have noticed this about husbands - they don't always do things the logical way (meaning our way! ).

TINA - glad the party was fun - and the after party! I bet Preston was thrilled with it all. But sorry the phone people are giving you such a rough time. Good customer service seems to be a thing of the past nowadays. I hope you are rested up today and can get back to the Quilt Assembly Line.

IRISH - there you are! I was getting ready to call out the search dogs! I remember that you were going to be having the kids but didn't know when. A box of china is kind of a hard thing to ship to them. Guess you will have to go visit! Can't believe little Lena is going to be 5 already. And Kathy is coming to town for it! And how is Tim doing since he was so sick in Europe? Fully recovered? Did your sister every have her knee replacement?

I'm not sure about supper tonite since I'm going out for a big lunch. I think I'll make grilled cheese sandwiches w/ tomato soup or else eggs and hashbrowns. I doubt I'll be hungry but Bill will probably expect something to appear before him.

What might you be having for your supper?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, your outing with your friends sounds really fun❤️ I hope you all have a fun visit and it's a yummy lunch!
My phone company customer service I have now is awesome but we're having to deal with the one I left. I'm waiting for a call from mine this morning to see if the old one finally released Frankie's number. My girl with me through 5 hangups from the old company and we were on the phone trying to get it figured out and fixed for almost 2 hours, wish I could send her something for a special thank you but I'm sure they aren't allowed...... She deserves a glass of wine at the very least and I told her yesterday to have one for me too with all we went through, she got a kick out of that.
I gotta check the freezer to see what supper will be tonight, it's Dad's night.
I gotta do laundry today but thankfully no major housework after doing it yesterday, so that should let me get started on this next quilt.

Good afternoon from a warm, semi sunny, SW. Pa.....Another warm day and wish we could just store it for the coming months......But, I think I heard someone say, in the new revised Farmer's Almanac, we are to have a very mild winter......But, we'll see soon enough what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.....

Oh my Mary, you are really special....Too many times and I'm guilty of this myself, but older friends are "set aside" for another time and then forgotten...I have such good intentions but there's always something gets in the way....Thank goodness, my lunch gals do stay in touch even though, 2 of them are on their way to their winter homes in Florida...But, the other gal and I are going to try our best to get together and talk about them and then hopefully visit them down there.......My sister belongs to 2 card clubs and there is 1 gal with a wheel chair and 1 with a walker and my sister picks them up each time...Then when she "made" me join, she'd get me in her "handicap carrier"...Now, she's having problems but says as long as she can do it, she'll drive....And speaking "Gimpy" my sister, she's already had both knees done and now it's her hip BUT, insurance says, she needs to lose 10 pounds or they won't pay...This has been a good month and she's still not lost the weight...I took her this morning for a weigh in and she's only dropped 1 # in 2 weeks....Not sure what or what not she's doing but, she needs to do something........
After working outside yesterday and not accomplishing anything in the sewing room, this is where I'm staying the rest of the day...Our craft show is Nov. 11 and my table is going to look pretty bad if I don't get with it......

I haven't a clue about supper.....But, I'm sure I won't starve......

You all have a great rest of the day.......

Happy eating.................

Becca, your dinner will be like dinner and dessert.

Mary, how wonderful you get to spend time with your long time friends. Sounds like it will be quite the outing. Just have to allow for the extra time of getting them in and out of the car.

Tina, being on the phone trying to get things resolved is a pain. And then being disconnected is frustrated.
I spent some time on the phone with my dads cable company yesterday. Their computers were slow and kept dropping the info. I had to repeat my the account number 5 times.

I got the house cleaned up this morning. Then I sewed the binding on the Halloween quilt. I'm using clips to hold it down so I can sew it on tonight. It's so darn cute.

Dinner will be Burgers and fries. Bill is getting them right now.

Have a lovely evening.

Good Afternoon,

I am making progress on the Halloween quilt but still need to make the bag for the Nativity figures. Guess I will take a break from quilting and just get it done.

Maryz - Hope you enjoyed lunch with your friends. You are a good friend to take them to lunch. Next time pick a restaurant with a parking lot! Hope you got to sew.

Becca - Dinner sounds delightful. Enjoy the French toast. Our tomato soup last night was wonderful! The only bad thing is the recipe only makes three servings! I had the leftovers for lunch today again with a cheese sandwich.

Lori - Congratulations on finishing your Halloween quilt.

Tina - Hope you got to sew today to get rid of the frustrations with phone.

Irish - Hope you can stay in touch with your friends through the winter. Best wishes for your sister losing weight.

Dinner tonight will be a Sweet Kale Salad, beets and a Farro/Kale/Squash mixture. DH has a colonoscopy scheduled for next Tuesday, so we are already thinking ahead. I may take some chicken out of freezer and finish it off in the next few days.

Carol
