SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Sept 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 02, 2023 7:02 am

Good morning,

It's going to be a beautiful day here today - 85* and sunny. Before tomorrow will be a 20-degree drop to 65*. Then next week will all be low 70's. I think summer is seriously on the wane here. The new little rooster next door is practicing his "instrument" this morning. Sounds so funny. I think the two old roosters went to "live on the old chicken" farm. They assure us that that isn't a euphamism for stew pot but a real farm so that's what I'm going with.

I spent half the day in my recliner using ice packs, but was able to play in my sewing room for about 45 min in the afternoon. Felt good to do that. And I drove two miles (and back!) to drop Scottie off for his hair appt. It was a big day for me. I was tuckered out! We'll see how today goes. Autumn found out I have a narwhal pattern (in Eliz Hartman's North Stars quilt) so I got another quilting assignment. Turns out the friend I'll be making the lemur pattern for has an ongoing argument with her attorney husband on whether narwhals really exist or if they are a mythical character. So, now I need to make a quilt of narwhals I guess to prove their existance. lol!

CAROL - that is wonderful news about your eyes! And equally good news about the drive to/from! I've seen your freeway traffic! I take tumeric daily, too. I believe it helps. Though right now, IBU is my biggest friend! Glad you have a plan for your yard. Will it decrease the amount of yard work you do?

IRISH - you are off to your camping weekend! I sure wish I was going to be there for some of those eats! Yum! Stuffed shells! I haven't made those in many moons! Our kitty is a little off his food - even his small spoon of canned food morning and evening. I'm wondering if he has a bad tooth. He has an appt at the vet but it's not for quite a while. But he can stand to lose a little weight himself - he is 18# and has quite a belly on him. We think he's at least part Maine Coon, which are big cats. That's our excuse, anyway.

BECCA - I'm sorry you had a sleepless night. But on the plus side, you got to see that beautiful moon! It's been too cloudy here for us to see it. I don't like crowds either so I would be skipping the festival with you. We never attend any festivals our town has, yet when we're traveling, sometimes they are fun in other places. Go figure. And no worries - I won't be touching so much as a single weed until it's time to clip the sword ferns next month. We could leave that until we come back from Texas in February but it's so much colder and wetter then and it's hard to get Mr. Bill outside to help. With his help and his professional grade weed whacker we can clip all our ferns in a few hours. But it he doesn't help me, it takes me days to do it with my clippers and I can barely move my hands afterward. So I've learned - do this chore BEFORE we go south. And we only do about 1/4 of the ferns I used to do (which was hundreds!) Now we only do about 50.

LORI - your street fair sounds fun and tacos and beer for breakfast! A great way to shake things up. How long will it take you to quilt those two quilts? I saw Jack's picture with your braid quilt. The quilt makes a great backdrop to his beautiful self!

Last night I was going to make poached eggs for supper - until I realized we don't have any eggs! I boiled them all yesterday. But - the freezer to the rescue. I thawed a container of chicken taco soup. Bill was happy. He loves soups. Tonite is going to be Italian. We are either going out with our friends if he is able (he is having back surgery on Tuesday), or I am going to make baked ziti. (Irish temped me with those stuffed shells, but that would mean a grocery trip and I don't want to do that.) So it all depends on our friend, Doyle - if he can't do the restaurant but is up for it, we'll take the ziti to their house and visit while we eat. If he's not, we'll eat it here and phone in our visit. One way or another, we are going to get our Italian fix!

What's your plan?

Good Afternoon,

Maryz - Hope your back is feeling better this afternoon. Guess you can spend time planning your quilts. Autumn has a lot of quilts for you to do.

I do not remember what I said I was going to make yesterday, but I didn't make anything. I had a soup in the freezer and DH ate something else. He isn't feeling great. Dinner tonight will be either Garden Vegetable Soup or Barley Vegetable Casserole.

I have been planning the quilting for a couple of quilts this afternoon. I have one ready to quilt.

Carol

Mary, that list should keep you busy for a few months. Glad you are a little better. Ice is the best. I was bringing in the sheets yesterday, and tripped over Wrigley. I didn't see him laying in the hallway, because I had the sheets just out of the dryer in my arms. I immediately put ice on my arm and leg that took the brunt of the fall. I'll have a bruise on my leg, but my arm is fine. You'd think I would see a 100 pound golden. Would love to see a picture of Scottie fresh and clean from his spa day.

Becca, where in the 70's, but it's overcast and a little muggy. I'll take it over 90+ any day.

Carol, when we got back from the street fair, I quilted up one of the quilts. I had it layered and marked, so it was easy. Just a simple cross hatch.

I got the bigger quilt done, and 2 bindings made. I just need to press them and sew them on. That's next.

Dinner is cereal since everyone is still pretty full from our feasting at the fair.

Have a lovely evening .
